Just wanted to ask if there's any player in the NRL who is more underrated than Sam Perrett? He doesn't look like the biggest guy but he seems incredibly strong.

I've seen him throw far bigger players over the sideline and the opposition players always have trouble tackling him. If you look at his stats he always makes alot of yardage as well.

A great player for the Roosters and the NZ side.

All he needs is to break the line and find the tryline a bit more consistently.

He makes a tonne of runs a game, busts tackles at will and is a good support player, but he makes few clean breaks to show how quick he really is, and most of his breaks are usually from within our own half, he rarely gets much ball in a good attacking position.

The only problem with his play is probably the errors that can creep in to his game. Some crucial misjudgements and handling errors have occurred in the past, and early errors in a match are usually a sign of things to come - his confidence can be affected by a bit of dropped ball or a missed tackle early on.

His trysaver on Tuiaki really summed him up however, not big, but huge of heart, and puts his body on the line a lot. Definitely a worthy NZ rep.

On a second note, SKD seems to be a HUGE improver this year. His running has always been good, but less handling errors and poor defensive reads. He will really mature into someone with great potential.

IMO, he is better than Minichiello at same age.

Well, you're a dickhead.

At the same age Minichiello was one of the fastest in the game, easily the best fullback in the game and had an incredible debut Origin series. He was returning off a premiership win and was one of the catalysts of our squad that was smashing most teams week in week out.

Whilst Perrett is a quality player and I have had high admiration for him since his debut v the Knights, to say he is better than Minichiello at the same age is to completely forget how good Minichiello was.

We are talking about Minichiello in 2003/4.

I'd like to know how much he can squat.

It seems that everytime he gets smothered by 3-4 tacklers, including forwards, he just drives back against them and makes another 3-4 metres. Takes some huge leg strength to push back and gain ground against 300kg of players trying to push you the other way

Minichiello couldn't stop Tuiaki from 1m out in a thousand years. Perrett puts his body on the line as did Luke Phillips. If it blows your skirt on the odd occassion Minichiello puts in a good attacking run then good for you...

Bear in mind Perrett keeps on getting dicked around between wing, centre, and fullback whereas Minichiello had the fullback position for himself. A couple years ago when Mini was injured and Perrett had a decent run a fullback he was EASILY better than Minichiello at same age.

I've been a fan since 2007 but I'm surprised about all the praise in this thread because I've heard Roosters fans criticise him a lot as well. Also, last year right through the World Cup there were calls from Kiwi fans to bring in Inu or Nightingale or SKD, which I can't understand as Perrett has always played outstanding for the Kiwis.

His ball-carrying strength is uncanny. On the surface he doesn't have a lot going for him- for a winger he is both small and slow.

Where is Sam Perrett's golden boot award?

Forgot Mini's tackles in the 2002 finals?

Perret's a pretty mediocre winger but damn he plays some good games at fullback. He has his critics, which is fair, because his form can be all over the place sometimes. I seem to change my mind on whether I want him in the side on a monthly basis.

He deserves his spot. Easily the best defender in our squad.

But for some knobjockey to start saying at 23 Perrett is better than 2003 Minichiello is f**king absurd.

And for said knobjockey to question whether Minichiello would have stopped Tuiaki just goes to show how people have forgotten how good Minichiello was in defence.

Minichiello at 23 in 2003 would have EASILY stopped tuiaki which is one of the reasons why he would eventually go on to win the golden boot award.

Acting immature doesn't make you correct, it just makes you immature.

So Mini was as good a defender as Phillips and Perrett? All those feeble slaps at the ball for many years meanwhile Phillips was concussed and injured many times for putting his body on the line? lol. I'll give you the tip Mini aint in the same postcode as Phillips for having a big ticker. Perrett is closer to Phillips than Mini.

Oh and speaking of Phillips, have another look at Phillips in the 2000 and 2002 grand finals and tell me one game Mini has played that comes close to either of Phillips' defensive efforts.
