Today is Xmas and New Years days combined for serving the "not used to drinking mid-week crowd"
LOL

Just looking out the window I can see all the oldies waddling down the street to Cronulla. I'll just stay at home drinking thanks. Just got a BBQ chicken, some garlic sauce and chips. My breath might kill someone.

I just hope that I can see a lot more online gambling ads on the tele today.

Gawd they are so funny.

I just hope that none of the horses have to get shot today.

It's actually the most dead Smellbourne Cup day I've seen, so far.
It was quiet on the weekend too.
Without putting a political slope on the thread, it always goes quiet for a week or two after a national budget gets presented. It's a mental thing, a lot of people feel the need to readjust, the thing is inside two weeks it's back to normal.
Doing it the week before a Smelly Cup seems a weird type of plan of timing. They'd have their reasons. All of the people in my line of work would be feeling it today if it continues along this vein.

I also think it is the covid stuff that kinda killed the vibe of it. From age 21 up to 2018(19 I had a newborn) it was the best day of the year for this corporate bloke with some crazy stories. But now I've spent the last two/three years at home I really can't be f**ked going into the office for it whereas before I was there anywhere so a great excuse not to do work.

Actually I went into the city for 2020s one and hadn't been around work people (or anyone for that matter) got way too excited and woke up to my cabby who had taken me from the city asking me where my house was - I told him northies!

Piss was flying out the window last year for it. I can't recall exactly but maybe people had recently been let out of their cages??

I checked this today and my first outing was October 16th so it woulda been a few weeks into the reopening.

I can’t for the life of me remember what I did. But drinking at home a strong contender

A lot of people were still working from home. That boosted sales I reckon.

Just got back from a whirlwind visit to the Emu Park CBD. Did laps of the aisles of the IGA. It was great, no bastard about. Must be a horse race on or sumpant.

Got some fantastic reduced to clear specials. Barramundi is on the menu tomorrow night. 50% off, what a win.

Just had a word to a fella I know who manages a Dan Murphy’s.
He said it was the worst day of sales for a Smelly Cup day that he can recall ever.

Each to their own.
Can’t stand it these days post the greyhound debacle years back.
Hopefully it’s had its day, but while a younger generation is bombarded with every gamblor app under the sun - it should make a come back sooner rather than later.

Frenzy.

Geez, that makes me young then cause I certainly feel the bombardment :)

I think it is about time we got the Whitlams back together again and forget about blowing up the pokies, it should be more like somebody to 'hack the apps'.

Would the trains still run on time though?

Not if it’s game day at shark park. Busses only.
