Saints have a pretty good spine (If the put L'Estrange at 9 and not Rein) and are not as bad in the playing stocks as people think. They are falling into the same bad habbits as Super Price. Looks like Mary is a clone to the clown Price.

People are taking it out on the board when it should be the 17 blokes on the field and the coach who have been given the opportunity to represent this great club. Surely selecting a team can't be that hard. A player underperforms he gets dropped, simple game. The centres have now had 2 games, Reins has had a thousand and should be playing in Cutters. Those 3 have had their chance give the young guys a go in Garvey, Runciman and Aitken. I would even throw Dufty a go at FB in place of Mata'utai. They seriously can;t play worse so what have they to lose.

It's not as centric to the team and coach as you think it is. Who hired the rookie, unproven coach? Who recruited the players? Is it the players' fault that the club doesn't know how to make any money? The only good thing they've done recently is hire Mulholland, but it's been way overdue, and all of the damage is already done.

Simple solutions:

  • - Brian Johnston CEO
    - Mark Coyne Board
    - Browny - Coach
    - Establish a Legends Board to instill club passion to current team
    Graeme Wynn
    Ricky Walford
    Mark Coyne
    Steve Edge
    Rod Reddy
    Brian Johnson
    Graeme Langlands

  • So you want one lot of Saints old boys replaced with a new lot of Saints old boys?
    Why?

Are you actually Peter Doust? You have missed the point by miles, in the exact way he did in his media release.

This isnt about the team. This isnt about the last 2 weeks or even last years ladder. This is about the downfall of our club on and off the field since 2010, the horrendous and inexplicable run of decisions that have lead us to where we are now, the corrupt choices, nepotism, and all around destruction of what was once a great club.

This.

3 years of crap and this year will be no better and no doubt 2016 will be a "rebuilding" year as well. We apparently produce juniors but we let all our best ones go. So much for spending so much on producing them if we are just going to let them go.

Hi all

first time poster, long time reader.
As a suffering saints fan its becoming very obvious that doust and his puppets will never voluntarily walk away from a pay packet.
Its going to take heaps of team work and organised media reporting to try and drive the rats from our sinking ship.

As a business owner I believe its imperative that the replacement for doust be a well connected business minded and successful ceo.

The replacement for Doust isnt of primary inportance. First port of call is the replacement of the Football Club Board of Directors...if we (or the NRL on our behalf, as they did with the Tigpies and Newcastle) can assemble a quality BoD filled with a mixture of fresh-minded bussinessmen/women and football knowledge, then that Lays the ground for change everywhere - they would assign an appropriate CEO to execute their vision for the club.

At present, the Board has far too much imput into football operations with skewed (even corrupt agendas) such as appointment of their mates/family to coaching positions (O'Connor/McGregor have Steelers connections, and Craig Young and Bob Millward had their sons appointed as assistants) and, if some words are to believed, input into team selection of both first grade and NRL. Furthermore, Peter Doust actually sits on the BoD, the same body that Employs him as CEO!!!

The Board, IMO, are a bigger issue than Doust alone and should be the target of this movement.

Exactly, everything else will flow on from there. What a breath of fresh air it will be when the best applicants get picked on their merits, not on their past association with the club.

Seeing red and not white: Dragons fans accuse management of club slide

By Paul Haigh

March 20, 2015, 4:45 p.m.

St George Illawarra Dragons fans are breathing fire.

They want action from the administration to arrest the club’s slide since 2012.
The Dragons have missed the finals for the past three years.
Social media has been smoking in recent days with angry Dragons fans venting their frustration at chief executive Peter Doust and management.
Doust, who has been in charge of the Dragons since 2000, has felt the brunt of the outbursts.
The ‘‘Oust Doust’’ campaign has begun again, reminiscent of the 1995 Save Our Saints campaign, and a group of supporters is considering a ‘‘Save Our Saints March’’ and meeting at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah, in the near future.
SaveOurSaints has published a petition they want fans to sign on Facebook which they will forward to the club.
It reads:
‘‘This is important because for a long time, our great club has been made a mockery of over the past three years. St George Illawarra Dragons won the premiership in 2010, one year after enlisting the services of Wayne Bennett. We were the minor premiers in 2009. We won the World Club Challenge in 2011. During Bennett’s time, we were the top defensive side of the competition.
‘‘Then everything changed when Steve Price was appointed as coach.
‘‘From 2012 onwards, our club began to spiral downwards. We became the laughing stock of the NRL in terms of competition. From the top defensive side to wooden spoon favourites. For the first time in years, we missed out on the finals. Long standing traditional events that we had always won in the past were lost.
‘‘It was complete chaos and the Dragons fans all over the world cried out in outrage.
‘‘Who was the bright genius that allowed these events to take place? Peter Doust and his board.
‘‘Peter Doust has allowed our club to fall into a state of chaos and the majority of the Dragons fans are sick of it.
‘‘So this is what we’re going to do.
‘‘We’re going to show that we have strength in numbers and show Mr Doust and the rest of the board that we will not stand for incompetence any longer.
‘‘So this is what we want from the NRL and the St George Illawarra Dragons:
‘‘We want a board that will act in the interests of the fans of the St George Illawarra Dragons rather than their own.
‘‘We want a board that will not have the mentality of being a ‘boys club’ where significant roles within the club will be handled internally by those who have been moulded by the board in the past.
‘‘We want fresh new faces, who are knowledgeable in how to steer our club out of financial debt and into a surplus.
‘‘But most importantly, we want the voices of members to be heard.
‘‘All of those who agree that Peter Doust and the rest of the board should step down, please sign this petition. We have strength in numbers and we can make a difference by exerting this strength.
‘‘We are Dragons supporters who want a change to happen. So let’s work together to get it done.
#SaveOurSaints
The Dragons have responded with a statement outlining their strategy and future direction:

''The St George Illawarra Dragons Board and Management acknowledge that elements of our supporter base are unsettled and are communicating accordingly.
Similarly, the Dragons Board and Management acknowledge the passion and commitment of our supporter base and the key role this plays in our business.
Our Red V Members, Partners and supporters have always been a priority for the Dragons, when making decisions about the Club, and its future overall, and we will continue to communicate as thoroughly and completely as possible at the appropriate times.
Our start to the season is not ideal, no one at the Dragons is happy about that; it is not ideal for any Club to lose their opening two games.
The Board and Management also understand that there are a number of matters around the Club that have frustrated supporters, such as: Recruitment, Right Game Right Venue and other strategic factors which we would ask people to note, have been addressed individually, at various stages, over the past months.''

Keep up the good work guys, Doust and the Board of Management are becoming rattled and I am sure will fall under pressure regardless of the on-field results.

Our man concern is about poor management, which in itself is the cause of poor on-field results over the past 3 years.

My preferred outcome is the sale of our football club and the two leagues clubs to a private owner with deep pockets. I would imagine that such an owner would turn the Taj into a profitable business, returning to its former glory; e.g. if as reported in previous threads, there is a large population of Chinese people in the St George district then, after refurbishment of the Taj, develop a quality Chinese restraint, staffed with top level Chinese chefs.

Also how about recruiting some junior big boppers from China and bring them through our juniors' scheme under a Government exchange program (Chinese football players learning English - Australian ping pong players learning Chinees). We could even get some of our Chinese businesses to take on third party sponsorshp for players graduating with excellence.

The idea of having a ground and leagues club located in close proximity is very desirable and probably the desire of most Clubs in the competition. A new owner should make the development of both ground and Club a priority. The Panthers have a model which, if possible all Clubs should follow.

Out of interest did anyone see that AC Milan has also launched a campaign called #saveacmilan. Fans are also concerned about how their proud club is being run into the ground by inept management...
