SBW/Robbie Fruen Combo

He'll replace Nonu for the World Cup for sure..
Not a chance in hell...

barring injury, or a massive drop in form next year, SBW will NOT start a major Test match ahead of Nonu... There is no chance the AB coaches will split up probably the no1 centre combination in world Rugby in a world cup year... that would be beyond stupid...

SBW, if he keeps up his development, will be the impact player in the last 20 of a Test match.

Nonu is average at best. If he played for the Wallabies he would be crap. Just looks good because he is in such a good team.

yeah... i see both sides to be honest...

i think Ma'a has been the most consistent back in the All Blacks during a pretty tough period. He would be extremely un-lucky if he was dropped when everything is firing in sight of the finish line.

Having said that... we all know how NZ Rugby works... runs on the board counts for little when the All Blacks lose a game. If the All Blacks lose a test... and the incumbent doesn't play outstanding... if there is someone else with momentum behind them they can often get the nod.

weve even seen it in world cup years... with Justin Marshall & Byron Kelleher in 1999, Aaron Mauger & Luke McAlister in 2007.

either way... im glad weve got the problem... 2 seasons ago we were all worried about Nonu.

Like shiznit I see both sides of this argument...but if you think Nonu is a better talent than SBW, I would say you're not a very good judge of talent
f**k you are good as selectively quoteing... its the worst form of debating... I didnt say that Nonu is the better talent i said he is the better 2nd 5/8th and he is... attack is only half the game... SBW still has a huge amount to learn about Rugby defensive patterns... he is not anywhere near being a starting All Black 2nd 5/8th.

And i will say it again... there is no way in hell, barring a major loss of form, that Nonu will be dropped in a world cup year when he is part of the no1 centre pairing.

Or a loss....

It could happen.

Sorry, are you the coach?
No, im just smarter than you... SBW simply isnt the best 2nd 5/8th in the country his defence at the moment is second rate... he is also building a partnership with Fruen, but it will take years to be as good as Smith/Nonu ...

Well, I'll quote this whole passage then, because I think it's another terrible attempt at analysing SBW and doesn't give him anywhere near enough credit

Given he has been found wanting a lot in defence against teams minus their All Blacks its hardly a " terrible attempt at analysing SBW "... i think he has an outstanding attacking game, but he is nowhere near ready with his defensive game...

Or do you think he is the best 2nd 5/8 in the country?

Agreed..

Im also a SBW fanboy.. But im also a Tana Umaga fanboy...

Cant wait to them go against each other tonight... Hopefully tana teaches SBW a few lessons in tackling.

thought SBW held is own against Tana, if not played better than him,

No it wont.. unless Nonu is injured or suffers a massive drop in form there is no chance he will be dropped for SBW
i wish i could hold your confidence... but i think ony DC and McCaw are in that position.

for mine Nonu has a guy snapping at his heels... which is what makes the all blacks so strong.

it reminds me of Australia in cricket... you give someone from the local domestic comp a chance and they usually grab it with both hands.

i think Ma'a sent a strong message out in his game against th naki tonight. he aint giving his black jersey up.

Have watched him intently every game and haven't noticed.

Defence has never been a weakness for SBW.

Well you need to watch without your rose coloured member of the family glasses...

last night was the perfect example... great on attack... but got beaten twice easily... one on one he can defend... as part of a defensive screen he still needs a lot of work.
