Watson might have a chance to catch smith here. India have decided to bowl on leg stump to him to dry up the runs.

Smith is moving up the list of most runs in a 4 test series. From what I can see only behind
1. V Richards 829 runs (v Eng 1976)
2. S Gavaskar 774 runs (v WI 1970/71)
3. J Kallis 712 runs (v WI 2003/04)
4. R Ponting 706 runs (v Ind 2003/04)
5. G Headley 703 runs (v Eng 1929/30)
6. K Walters 699 runs (v WI 1968/69)
7. E Hendren 693 runs (v WI 1923/30)

Smith currently on 638

Good partnership here. One of our main problems in recent years has been our first and second wicket stands.

The big tall strong human is beginning to unleash. After a short teething period in test cricket Shane Watson has arrived!

Australia very very well set up. New ball in two overs.. Two opening bats in next..and 2 set batsmen in.

Remember when both teams would score 250-350 in the first innings of a Test on seeming wickets?

I do. Fun times. I miss a contest between bat and ball on days 1, 2 and 3 on a regular basis.

Australian wickets are as flat as Sri Lankan pitches these days. When as recent as 10 years ago they were the best and most varied in the world.

Sad times for "test" cricket.

It must also be said of course than the Indian fast bowlers have and always will be pop gun at best.

They're making Steve Smith look like Greg Chappell.

To be fair..Smith has been great against all attacks in the past 12 months...

Anyone know how to listen to the cricket on Tune In Radio App or on your phone? For some reason this summer you don't get it?

Well done Watto.

The scg was criticised the test didn't go 5 days last year. It really is too far in favour of the batsmen though. The pressure to make a test go 5 days is certainly pretty strong.
