I did schoolies at the GC, had a f**king great time. Pissed every night. We went outside the "official" schoolies period where they have all the beach parties and stuff but still heaps of schoolies around.

Went to GC as well, it was awesome. We didn't do any of the official stuff, just hung around with mates, went to bars/theme parks/the beach, it was great

Me and my mates (as well as half our grade it turned out) went up to Byron Bay. Would be a bit more relaxed than GC but still some really good clubs and places to go. Really cheap liquor shop there as well (at least it was in 2006).

While i had a blast on the Gold Coast, i think a trip overseas or to the snow would have been money better spent.

Its a freaking great week, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but i expect the police and organizers to really start cracking down on all the "bad things" that happen throughout the week.

Excessive drinking, toolies, damage to property, fighting.

Schoolies wont be completely "free" to do anything like in years gone by.
