This is not yes or no. The details, as I've read it are, if you run out of work your company can apply for you to stay on with them and the government will fund it at $1500 per fortnight. The company can then top it off with more cash if it so decides. This goes for a 6 month period. Have I missed something, I'm happy to hear if I have.
Well, they want you to stay "working" for the company where possible, and find things to do. I'm not sure how this is to be implemented exactly. I'll have to read up on it more.
I hope if they get you to "keep working" then it's at least along the lines of your current position. Hopefully it's just a bit of a help for the business to get through to the other side. There will probably be exploitable loopholes and hopefully they are kept to a minimum. I hope this has been written with goodwill to everyone.
For instance I don't see why the government should be paying for the bosses merc to be washed every day. (Extreme example)
On a deeper philosophical level I don't really see why the government should be paying me to work (for less than what I usually get) for someone else's direct gain. I don't get anything out of doing menial tasks. If they are giving out money I'd rather just get it myself so I can work on my own projects. Why is my labour going to another person's wellbeing through a government payment?
I'll approach it with enthusiasm but as I said, We'll see how it pans out.
