Oh the delicious irony of bagging out capitalist freedoms from the safety of a capitalist country on an open forum allowed by said countrys values.

Well, more so our democratic values than our capitalist values.

Our capitalist values allowed me to buy all the toilet paper.

The values on show from hoarders are for all the see. Values you seem to share. Plenty aren’t hoarding.

Hoarding is a capitalist value.

Acquiring more than I need to sustain myself is a capitalist value.

You can rent my toilet with toilet paper if you like.

But then I might have to share.

LIke they share political parties you can vote for? oh wait.
Like they share early information about the virus to the populace, when large numbers had either died, were dying or bleeding sick.
Like all those 10s of millions of Chinese millionaires are sharing their largesse, with the rest of the population.
Like they share freedom of expression with each other, without interference from an authoritarian Govt.
Wonderful equality, no wonder Taiwan wants to steer clear from it.

I question whether much "hoarding" is going on anyway . Most people do constant shopping, due to convenience , lack of storage space and cash flow . Supermarkets are geared to that. Now we are told to have couple weeks supply on hand . Many people have little idea how to do that . Just doing their best. Supermarkets Supply strategies havent caught up.

Personally I was brought up on country properties by Parents that grew up in depression era . Always have couple weeks food in stock,And in case it runs out got Sweet potatoes, Kasavas ,Nuts (trade with neighbor thats got huge garden). Would have eggs but Chicken coup project got put on hold, due to second Hailstorm that finished off crop and income and spare time.. During Depression My mums Family always fed any Down and outer that came to the door ,in exchange for Small jobs done .I would do same.

Yes, they are authoritarian.

I don't much like that if I'm totally honest with you.

Perhaps you can explain why the politburo are living in wonderful mansions, driving around in lux cars, and amassing large sums. And the Chinese head wants to be appointed for life.

No wonder corruption even with the threat of death is rife, down the lower echelons.

And Fidel Castro one of the fathers of a socialist economy ,ended up with a personal wealth estimated at $900m US.Yep sharing the goodies with the plebs.Poverty is still prevalent in Cuba.

Yep. I'm not quite sure how you pick a "hoarder "in line at the shops anyway.

Someone with a full trolley?

Maybe they are buying for their elderly relos and three kids.

The people that you're glaring at might actually be helping others.

I'll lay the cards on the line.
Basically you need entrepeneurs to create jobs in large numbers, like the Bill Gates ie capitalists in addition to Govt controlled essential services. You need a Govt who looks after those less fortunate.
The biggest sucker upper of money are the armed services and their equipment. The amount spent of weaponry worldwide, could probably prevent poverty and do a lot more for the unfortunates in each country.

Shit like cream rises to the top... No matter what the system. History proves it . Communism Failed as the Utopian answer Marx envisaged because Humans need individual motivation to be productive . China is proving same thing . Their millionares were buying up Property in Australia inflating our property market . Our Govts allowed it

. Unfettered Capitalism Fails too --Need Restraints, Otherwise ,when things go pear shaped the Conservatives will suddenly be wining about "National interest" and the unwashed will be looking for fault in govt and "succesful " people

Everyones looking at you Feej! Bring that tin foil hat factory back to Australia . There will be lots of kiddies looking for work when all the schools shut down.

On serious note I agree with comrade zod. Some of the pelicans yapping about "in the National interest" should take note too.
My workers in Wuhan have just come back to work. I have seen a massive spike in orders in the last few weeks. Obviously people are hoarding tin-foil hats now. But that's okay right? It's a capitalist society as someone on here said.
