Shit like cream rises to the top... No matter what the system. History proves it . Communism Failed as the Utopian answer Marx envisaged because Humans need individual motivation to be productive . China is proving same thing . Their millionares were buying up Property in Australia inflating our property market . Our Govts allowed it

. Unfettered Capitalism Fails too --Need Restraints, Otherwise ,when things go pear shaped the Conservatives will suddenly be wining about "National interest" and the unwashed will be looking for fault in govt and "succesful " people

And that pretty much is it.

Not much more discussion required.

Yep. I'm not quite sure how you pick a "hoarder "in line at the shops anyway.

Someone with a full trolley?

Maybe they are buying for their elderly relos and three kids.

The people that you're glaring at might actually be helping others.

But Scomo looks like such a strong leader ,commanding Hoarders to "STOP IT"

Someone with 8 packages of 24 rolls in their shopping trolley normally gives it away or shopping trolleys full of meat that they could open their own butcher shop....

How do you know who they're buying it for? They might have asked every old lady in the street if they need help.

So you’d be ok with a couple of bus loads of out of towners coming to your town and cleaning out the shelves in Woolies?

That’s happened in Melbourne.

Sure.

Free market.

You might own your own land but you don't own your local Woolies and their stock.

How dare you.

With entrepreneurs like Gates,Henry Ford,Thomas Edison.?They wouldn't last 5 minutes in a pure socialist society.No incentive.

Not in a purely socialist society.

I wouldn't advocate for that.

The market does some things very well, other things very poorly.

Ford would have done very well under National Socialism.

No perfect system, never suggested otherwise. There is greed in both systems and corruption.
But at least with capitalism, there are incentives to get off your backside to try something. If everyone is on the same wicket, why bother, the state will look after me.60% of our employment is private enterprise in this country.

Hawke (who I voted for )snuggled up to China investors not just the Libs. Then when Tiananmen Square happened he went off his tree.
China did well in feeding its population, that I concede, but their people are watched like hawks, no criticism, and the Govt controls their daily lives.
The closest socialism went to working was in Sweden ,and then it didn't last.
In theory socialism looks good on paper helping all, working together. The reality is those at the top get the cream, those under just plug away like automans.

Many years ago, before Caltex oil refinery was built, the Yanks built the bitumen road to Kurnelll in a very short time.Private enterprise. If you look now at the road building in the Shire, either under Council or State Govt control now it is as slow as f*ck.6 blokes sitting around talking, and teh mug ratepayers and taxpayers pay for it.

The national interest now is to combat or minimise the impact of the COVID19.The Govt acknowledges they have to assist as many as possible, including the great unwashed.

Yeah well he did have an inclination toward those Fascists, which I found abhorrent.
As I stated to the battered on, no system is perfect. But incentives can make a difference.
I've been in a union for a public company and I've worked in free enterprise with bonuses.I'll tel you which one helped our family
