and with due respect to Stringer we all saw what happened there, he was forced into retirement due to injury and missed a few games before that happened.

Morro other then the major neck injury didn't have a history of injuries and he had come back from that neck injury before playing for Parra

While PJ had a number of clauses/conditions in his deal if he was unable to come back from his injury when Parra signed him.

They were all failry major injuries. Outside of knee injuries a couple of seasons ago and being bashed with a pipe (or something) when he was recovering in Taree he hasn't really had many major injuries to warrant clauses.

I'm telling you, QLD winning the Origin series and in particular Gasnier's failure to convince at 5/8 is a massive boost to the chances of Hill remaining in the NRL.

Seriously, look at his competition for the NSW number 6 next year...

- Anasta  plays more like a lock forward anyway.

- Gasnier, so far the experiment has failed. Best position is centre.

- Hornby, not a specialist 5/8. Best position is fullback.

- Gower, has never looked convincing at half let alone 5/8.

- Lyon, not a specialist 5/8 and according to Manly has been signed to play centre anyway.

I think the lure of that NSW number 6 will keep him here.

I think it's down to whether it's with the Storm or with us.

Hill wants to play lock doesn't he? Or was that just paper-talk? Because I'd love to see...

6-Green
7-Smith
13-Hill

Along with PJ and Riddell that would give us so many attacking options...

That is the only way i want Hill signed, at lock! I am happy for him to start the season at 5/8th and ease Green into it, but i want him switched to lock as soon as Green is comfortable in the 5/8th role!!!

Although of course if Green doesn't work out, then we have Hill at 5/8th!

Yes!! We need a lock with Skill...... now we have had this option for a few years now with Mateo which we neglected to use. Facts are we need another option in attack just in case our halves are not clicking on the day. A skilled lock such Mateo will give our team more attacking flair. feleti Mateo is the player that can do this. I hope Hagan can convince him to stay. People on here keep saying his defence is bad ..... but I have not seen it and I have watched a lot of his games. He can play for 80 mins. All he needs is a decent chance and everyone one say why hasn't he been playing 1st grade earlier??

Answer: Brian Smith and his technical theory. feleti plays what's infront of him something that has been missing since the Jim dymock/ Jason Smith days.

Feleti's problems have to do with his attitude, maybe if he was given a decent shot in 1st grade he may well get it right but he just seems to switch off too often.

We have a backrow of
Morro, Chad, Hindy

Bench Players
Wagon, Widders

He might get a chance if Widders gets injured BUT they might prefer to play Taia then.

If Morris gets injured, Green or J Smith will slot in there. So I really don't see him getting a go unless a whole bunch of players are injured.

As for next year.

We have a backrow of
Wagon, Chad, Hindy

Bench Players
Lowrie

If we get Hill, then there really is no room for him.

Feleti's problem is Feleti. The kid is bone lazy. He has all the skills but just doesn't want to do the hard work. He doesn't need to be given a shot on potential - he needs to show he wants it. Defensively he is good but he he gets lazy.....

As I have posted on another thread. Wayne Collins and Andrew McFadden of the Raiders RATE Feleti highly. Both consider him to be of first grade standard in ability, but commented that he needs plenty of work on fitness.
Snoopy Collins is going with Mat Elliott to the Panthers next season. Wonder if the Penrith Club will be making a play for Mateo???

I know i will get attacked for this BUT i would rather have

6 Green
7 Timmy

13 Mateo

Hill is a good player but i want to look to the future rather than have a quick fix, we did that in 2001 and look where that got us!!!
