No-one has ever said it was $280k. Where that figure came from i'll never now. I think it was a figure of DJ1's fervent imagination. Anasta hasn't spoken about it, the Roosters haven't, so I'd guess no-one here would know. It was interesting that George said they'd offered him $200k more which would be nearly $500k. If Easts signed Anasta for $300k i'd say that'd be about right.

Of course all the figures you see are merely speculative, but I've been reading reports of Anasta signing for something in the order of around $1M over 3 years (ie approx. $330,000 per year). One report stated "Anasta, 23, snapped up more than $1 million for the Roosters deal" (Foxsports), which would put the deal around $350,000 per year.

Do you honestly believe that the Roosters payed less money for Anasta than what the Storm payed for Crocker, Gulavao gets more from Souths, Gallaway only earns 80k less than Anasta ect, and with money being the reason for leaving Anasta signs for only 25k more at the Roosters. rightio......

Anasta expressed his dissappointment in having to leave the Bulldogs and said he didn't want as he saw himself playing out his career there. He also said that money wasn't an issue when deciding between the Rabbitohs and Roosters.

If they were honest comments, he wouldn't have left for a few thousand more if his preference was to stay at the Bulldogs, and if he was willing to knock back $200k extra from the Rabbitohs. It doesn't make sense. Either he was crapping on about not wanting to leave the Bulldogs, or the Roosters offered a sh*t load more than the Bulldogs.

This is an enormous example of irony.

No bulldogs supporter anywhere, at any time or for any reason can ever take the high ground about salary cap issues. Your club forfeited your rights in 2002.
