Is it true we got our current coach because of Elliott? As in he recruited him as his assistant?

If so, at least that's a good result from a messy process.

Yes, thats correct. Cappy coached Canberra's Jersey Flegg team while Matt Elliott was at Canberra.

Imagine if the All Blacks had the same attitude of a different jersey for every whim!

I know, I know, the All Blacks are not the Warriors, and vice versa.

I'm just saying though.

In context though again, every club changes their jerseys. And Wayne Scurrah's job responsibilities include maximising revenue and profit, he's been fortunate to cater to a market that will consume all different jerseys.

In terms of the All Blacks, I expect its because it is such a long term established brand that its commercial commodity value is pretty much based on the uniformity of the jersey. That said, in the commercial world they do change as they change sponsors as well. Its a rare thing to be as consistent with the uniform as the All Blacks, if you look at England's cricket team for example they are now in a red uniform when light blue was always their colour. Australia's ODI team now is essentially green when they used to be yellow. The Windies went from a pinky colour to gray to maroon. Even teams like Manchester United which is synonymous with the red colour change their jerseys, their designs and colours quite regularly.

If you're selling a jersey for a team called all & black .....there isn't a lot of scope.

Seen the white AB's jersey in stores before, and even worse the grey, and each time I've just thought how many people actually buy these. Who wants a bloody All Blacks jersey that isn't black.

So when is Dean Bell getting the punt

I might be the minority but I haven't got too many issues with DB, he's got a good connection with Wigan and has signed some quality over the past 12 months, Tomkins, Bukuya, Hoffman. I asked the question in recruitment a few weeks ago and was told the coach asks for the players and Bell is supposed to source the talent, perhaps Bluey & ME weren't really asking for too much. I'd assume Tomkins was more Bell's doing than any coach

Yeah McFadden and Elliot did the talent spotting Dean does the going after bit.
I don't have an issue with Dean Per Se , I have an issue with him wearing too many hats.

One person should head the team of recruiting staff, an ex coach should run footballing operations / coaching directorship.

I would like them to consider an Australian Like Price to recruit the people from Aus in any case. Keep Bell as the UK specialist ( we should have more ESL players than anyone in the NRL ).

As for who recruited Tomkins, that's an interesting trail.

It starts with Tomkins meeting Eric Watson in London well before Bell or Schurrah went over.

Two things :

1) It is the Daily Telegraph reporting.

2) I believe that it could only be a good thing for the Warriors CEO to remain a close part of the NRL.
