I don't care who goes over. At the end of the day they will represent the NRL and we should all back them. Broncos, Manly, Souths, whoever!

Agree, but that shouldn't stop the bitch-fight, please continue.:thumn

Gee you're a bright one.

How about the fact we made to Week 2 of the Finals? Hardly an achievement by anymeans, but still, further than Parramatta. But that, once again is hardly an achievement by any stretch.

we're not the ones going around offering to play St Helens if the broncos don't, but then again if it came from Fitzgerald you'd all have a great laugh and so you should.

talk about hypocracy.

Sea Eagles' World offer

By Dean Ritchie

MANLY has boldly offered to take Brisbane's place in next year's World Club Challenge.
Brisbane appear lukewarm on playing British champion St Helens in the traditional pre-season match.
The Broncos want to rest several of their star players - raising fears the match may be cancelled.
"What better way to start the new season than having Jamie Lyon playing for his new club against his old club," Manly chief executive Grant Mayer said.
But Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen said: "We are still very keen to play it at a later date."

Manly to march in

MANLY have launched an audacious bid to take the place of disinterested Brisbane in next year's prestigious World Club Challenge in England.

The Manly Daily can reveal the Sea Eagles have already put plans in place to fly to the UK to play the Saints in early February if the Broncos pull out of the game.

St Helens added the Super League title to their Challenge Cup crown with victory over the Peter Sharp-coached Hull on Sunday.

St Helens centre Jamie Lyon is on his way to Australia to link with the Sea Eagles, adding further interest to a potential clash between the two clubs.

``What better way to start the new season than having Jamie Lyon playing for his new club against his old club,'' Manly CEO Grant Mayer said last night.

``I must stress this idea is only in its infancy but we are serious about going over there if Brisbane don't want to play.

``It would be treated as a trial match but we think it would be a wonderful meeting between two of the world's great rugby league clubs. It would be a tremendous experience for our players to run out at Saints' Knowsley Rd ground or Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium.''

Manly centre Steve Bell last night welcomed the chance to play against the UK champions.

``It would be a real experience to play over there,'' he said.

``I've never played in England and I'd love the opportunity to do so. It would be a shame if Brisbane couldn't play in the game but we'd jump at the chance.''

The Broncos are on the verge of withdrawing from next year's match, fearing they will be forced to field a side minus their representative stars. The game is due to be played in Australia for the first time since 1994.

But the Sea Eagles are prepared to travel to England if their proposal is accepted by the UK's Rugby Football League. Manly played in the second World Club Challenge in 1987, going down 8-2 to Wigan at Central Park.

I don't see anywhere were Manly would claim to be world champions! It would just be a trial match

Actually, the Rugby League Player's Association has mandated that players need to have X amount of time off. Due to the extended Rep season, this means that some of the Broncos' best will be in breach of those mandates if they play.

Even so, it's hardly as though the Broncos will be sending a bullsh*t side. Sure, it may not be as good as the one that will play week-in, week-out, but it's not as though they'll send a team of no-hopers.

Manly has won more premierships than Parra,
Manly have appeared in more GFs than Parra
Manly have never been wooden spooners while Parra proudly hold the record for most consecutive wooden spoons (1956-1961)
I am not sure how you define 'great' but it won't include Parramatta.

If they're not members of the Players Assoc, they wouldn't give a flying f**k what RLPA mandated, and they couldn't do a thing if someone was "over" their limit anyway, because as you're being paid, it would be a restriction of trade to try and stop them from playing if they so desired.

FFS it is an offer. They have offered to take the place if it is not filled. WTF is wrong with filling in if no one else wants the place. Good on Grant Mayer for having the foresight to even think about it.

I still say there should have been some authority put onto the WCC. If the Broncos choose not to play then Saints should be crowned World Club Champions by forfeit.
