Sat down yesterday and watched the 2001 final against the Sharks, and the 2001 Grand Final (Just to cheer myself up after Saturday night) Gee Rudder was a standout in both those games.

Rudder was awesome in the 2001 GF. I haven't got a copy of that game, but I will get it at some point.

Speaking of DVDs, I saw a bit of the Joey DVD yesterday. Bit of a praise-athon but I can cope with that :D Can't wait to watch it again - I was trying to watch it at my sister's place and there was too much conversation going on around me.

Castleford needs new talent scouts. I think Rudder could have fitted in quite well over there had he not been expected to be the best player on the field. He's a solid club quality utility player, and as Antonius said he even sparkled at 5/8 on occassion. He's a utility though, not a week in week out playmaker. I wouldn't mind getting him back. We've got Kidley and Witt for the 5/8 role, which means Rudder can just be sent back to the bench where we can use him as an effective impact player. He certainly should not be the highest payed player at any club though, he is not that talented, and not only that, it puts undue pressure on him.

Iddy.

And least Rudder's kicking game, when he chose to employ it, was a little less hot and cold then Kidley's.

A 5/8 needs a short kicking game. I don't think I've seen rudder get even one awy anywhere near half decent. Cas-fan, has it improved since going over to england?

Nope not at all. His kicking game since he has been over here is terrible

when he did long kicks over here, his long kicks were basically hope and see jobs. There wasn't much procision involved. His short were non existing.

His defence was very poor. He had a terrible technique. He hardly used his body in the tackles, it was basically an arm grabing job, he always looked worrying in one on one jobs. Has it improved in the english super league cas_fan?

Your right on the long kicks. He usually hits it and hopes for the best and its just no good. His defence is one of the only things to have impressed me. He seems to do a pretty good job in that department

Well that's good that his defence has improved. He used to look really awkward.

He had pretty good pace, that was a plus to his game.

When he used to play over hear, he was 5/8 for most of 3 seasons, yet he had a very little involvement rate. He was dropped from 5/8 twice over here on poor form, then when he got back into 5/8, his involvment picked up considerably. How is his envolvement over there.

He seems to get alot of ball but he's not doing much with it. His first 2/3 games he looked sharp, affective and a decent player but then he started throwing stupid balls out and just didn't look the part.

Apparently his wife and family only recently moved over here so he was on his own for some time and he wasn't really fitting in with the players.

On our forum some fans are willing to give Rudder more time (which i am also) but alot wont.

He's definitely not a 5/8. He's much more of a backrower. He can do a good hit up and if he is through a gap, it takes a while for him to get chased down. The problem with him in the back row over here was his defence technique. He missed alot of one on one tackles and with his poor technique, the opposition were continuenly getting offloads away while he was in the tackle. Plus he was near non existant when chasing kicks and doing covering tackles. These problems always seemed to get worse the longer the season went. Hopefully that's not happening for your team.

Well we are currently bottom of the league with one win

Its not too bad though as we have an easier run in than the team above us. Im hoping that Sean is given the chance to improve and play a part in the team alot more

I wouldn't wanna see him come back. Didn't like him when he was here, and from everything that has been said about him, I don't wanna see him in the red and blue again!

Poor Sean. I wasn't his greatest fan but at least he tries. You shouldn't have a go at someone for trying.
