Thanks mate. Unfortunately the Leichhardt one will likely be Flegg and Nsw cup players. Hope the Central Coast one is streamed.

With our roster unlikely to change much between now and March it’s very hard to be optimistic about climbing the ladder.

I think the club is very lucky they have got a couple of top notch signings for 23 to keep the punters interested.

Anyway all I want in 22 is a team that is still in the contest well into the second half unlike this year when most games were done and dusted after 30 minutes

I'm hoping our new assistant coach's can bring enough change to how our team plays that I can start believing we just might be a chance of top 8 in 2024.

Agree with both comments.

I'm pessamistic about 2022 however I'm starting to see some genuine signs that the club is turning around and they seem to be doing it with a long term view as opposed to other strugglers like the Bulldogs (short term)or the Dragons/Cowboys who seem to be having an each way bet.

As depressing as it is going into a season with even a 10th place finish probably being a good season, if I see the following I'll consider the season a success regardless of where we finish:

* Genuine structure in both attack and defence. New assisstant coaches both come with good resumes and certainly add a lot more conifdence then the previous dinosaurs. Lets be serious we don't have to do much to look better then 20 and 21

* Other young guns step up like Stefano did this year. Stef was one out of the blocks, we heard he was good but I doubt how many of us expected him to be THAT good. Making the Origin squad after just 16 NRL games and only 2 starts all before his 21st Birthday is remarkable. With his rise we need other highy rated kids to do the same. Shawn Blore, Jake Simpkin, Tuki Simpkins, Alex Seyfarth are the main ones but AJ Kepeoa and Kelma Tuilagi would be nice too. All these guys are entering their third year as fulltime NRL players. Its time for them to make their mark on the NRL.

* Competetive in all Games. It sounds pathetic to have to say that. As SC says we need to become a team where opposition teams need to earn their wins. With the (lack of) talent in the side we don't expect to win all or even most games, but being down 34-6 at halfitme is f*$king embarassing. I don't expect to seriously compete with Top 4 sides on a week to week basis but to be in the game for at least the first 60 isn't unreasonable to ask. Even in years where we've genuinley sucked we've always been a team that has knocked off a heavy weight at least once a year, haven't been able to achieve that under Madge.

* Brooks and Maguire future sorted. We can't get to this time next year and still be wondering is these two are the ones to lead us for the future. Brooks now has two other geunine NRL halves in the squad to keep him honest. if the guy is as shit as he was this year come midway through 2022 I want him dropped and told he won't be here in 2023. I don't care if we end up needing to play Alex Twal in the halves, I'll sacrifice the season for it. Same goes with Madge. If the players cleary aren't responding he does'nt get a 5th year to suddently turn this around. Ditch him before the end of the year, give Gardiner the reins to see how he goes so we can plan accordingly.

* At least one more big signing. Isiah Papalli and Api Korisau are both tremendous signings for 2023, probably our best signings in a decade and collectivley the best signing spree since 03/04 when Sheens bought Prince, Hodgson, Payten, Richards etc. They alone won't bring success, however I think if we could add just one more top line player it will go along way to making us a Genuine Top 8 Threat in 2023.

* Lower Grades continue to Perform. When COVID stopped NSW Cup and JF our sides were 2nd and 1st respectivey with JF undefeated. We have kept all bar 3 of the JF side and the squad actually looks stronger then it did this year with a number of stars from Balmain and Wests stepping up the grade from Ball this year. Brendan Tumeth, Harry O'Kane, Mickey Tannous, Bray Guyan (watch this one, we actually took him from the Roosters which is mental), Api Saukuru and Justin Matamua are some of the best 18/19 year olds in the country and will be looking to make their mark at Flegg. Then last years stars like Dillon, Ogden, Rua, Stevanovic, Perry, Webster etc hopefully make the transition to NSW Cup well.

If JTJ becomes our 29th signing, (he’s not on the below list?) we have a few others on T&T, wouldn’t surprise if one of them got the 30th spot?

Train and trial: Logen Dillon, Dudley Dutoi, Trey Peni, Tyrone Roberts, Kade Hill, Fonua Pole, Michael Tannous, Bray Guyan, Ben Stevanovic, Brandon Webster-Mansfield, Rua Ngatikaru, Billy Stapleton, Junior Pauga, Liam Scolari, Iverson Fuatimau, Austin Dias, Tom Freebairn.

Question, can the those T&T players who don’t make the squad, can they stay at the club, or do they have to leave?

They could have at least spelt Rua's last name correctly (Ngatikaura). It doesn't take much, and that'll piss him off. I bet they'll spell it correctly later- if he's still at WT.

Wouldn't the only option be a 2nd tier Magpies contract? Theoretically they can be called up later in season if extensive injuries hit the main 30 nrl squad.

Might be on my own but I dont mind the Jet resigning. They openly said he was never 100% fit last year and for some reason we decided to never throw him the ball. From what I can tell we have one specialist centre in the squad so one is needed, its either him or some other unproven guy from another club. At his best everyone knows what he can do. He seems to be sorted off the field so we dont have to worry about shit going downhill like with BJ. At a small contract he's still worth a shot IMO

Great summation.

On the one hand, we lost 4 games by 4 or less points last season, but on the other hand, we had theses chilling moments of beaten into a pulp and then some.

It was that range of outcome, lack of consistency, mental breakdown across the squad that we need to address above all others.

Just one statement of Footy Xanadu v the knights. That was my highlight.

And putting the Panther kids away. There was a lot on the line that night.

It showed we could rise to the odd occasion, but the consistency in the game wasn’t there.

All that said, everything you have raised, I cautiously agree with.

I’d rather get the spoon but be constant threat instead of these psychotic ups and downs. It’s cruelty to us!

Scolari needs some games.

Merry Xmas Tigerm:

I think you know the rules by now;-

On account of the Wests tigers inherent club handicap, for every gun player a normal team procures, we need on the average 1.5 of a gun player to reach the same level.

Madge making it past round 9 is even money?

For me It’s all in the jets face.He looked like a ghost last year. I’ll be looking for some colour there. You can’t hide good health or bad health

I’m glad someone else noticed he wasn’t getting the ball

WESTS TIGERS

22 reasons to be excited for 2022

AuthorWests TigersTimestampSat 1 Jan 2022, 12:00 AM

With the new year bringing new opportunities, as we enter 2022, we take a look at 22 reasons to be excited for the upcoming season.

Season opener

Wests Tigers will launch their 2022 campaign against the Melbourne Storm at CommBank Stadium. Following multiple COVID lockdowns, Members and fans will be excited to return for Round 1.

Multicultural Round

We can’t wait to host the Warriors at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in the third week of the competition, in which will be the NRL’s Multicultural Round. We’ve got some special surprises in store!

Return on lower grades

After a tough two seasons due to COVID, lower grades are back in 2022 — and we don’t have to wait long with junior reps kicking off next month. Our Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup side will be aiming for big seasons after successful 2021 campaigns.

Daine’s progression

Talented fullback Daine Laurie was impressive in his first full season in the NRL and he’s ready to go to a new level in 2022. Last year’s campaign ended in heartbreak as he suffered a nasty ankle injury, but he’s raring to go again.

Hastings in Wests Tigers colours

One of the big recruits for 2022, we can’t wait to have Jackson Hastings at the club this year.

Anzac Round

Wests Tigers will host another blockbuster game against last year’s grand finalists, South Sydney, at CommBank for Anzac Round. It’s always a special moment to stand as one to remember those who fought for our country.

Tamou’s 300th

It will be a big occasion when Wests Tigers captain James Tamou celebrates his 300th NRL game. The veteran prop is just 14 away from the big milestone.

Twal’s 100th

Reliable forward Alex Twal is also set to hit a major milestone with the century of games on the horizon. He’s 11 games away from the big 100 — a big celebration on the cards.

Centre of Excellence

Wests Tigers will move into brand new Centre of Excellence in 2022. The state-of-the-art facility will feature an elite high performance centre including gym and external training terrace, aquatic recovery pools, sauna and steams room, sports science, medical, sleep and rehabilitation facilities.

Gildart’s NRL debut

Another star recruit, Oliver Gildart will make his NRL debut for Wests Tigers this season. An England international, the centre is looking forward to playing in Australia.

Feel the magic

We’ve never lost at Magic Round and we want to keep it that way in 2022 when we face North Queensland at Suncorp Stadium. It’s the last game of the weekend, so we’ll be looking to leave Brisbane on a high.

AD’s return

A return date for Adam Doueihi is yet to be marked in the calendar, but his return from an ACL injury will be a pleasing sight for everyone at Wests Tigers. He’s been recovering well throughout pre-season and will be eager to get back out there in 2022.

Debutants

Who knows how many NRL debutants Wests Tigers will have this season, but it’s always an exciting moment to see a young kid achieve their goals. We’ll have to wait and see on this one.

Eels visit Leichhardt

Leichhardt Oval will be jammed packed when Wests Tigers host Parramatta in Round 17. It’s a Saturday night blockbuster you do not want to miss.
Luke Garner scores a try in Wests Tigers win over the Sea Eagles at Leichhardt Oval

Battle of the big cats

Wests Tigers fans will be treated to back-to-back local derbies with a clash against the defending Panthers in Round 18. It’s always spicy when we face the Mountain Men and it shapes as another big game at CommBank Stadium.

Star players arriving

We can’t wait to have Jessica Sergis and Kezie Apps playing for the club this year. The international duo are eager to pull on the Wests Tigers jersey in 2022.

Final round

Sunday afternoon against the Raiders at Leichhardt Oval in the final round of the season — we’ve seen this movie before. This could be one of the biggest games of the year.
leichhardt-oval_hero.jpg

Peach’s club debut

Tyrone Peachey is another player we can’t wait to see on the field this year! Having joined from the Titans, the representative player will be aiming to return to his best in 2022.

Papali’i arrival at season’s end

He won’t be arriving at Concord until after the season, but Isaiah Papali’i’s signing at Wests Tigers caused plenty of excited. He’s contracted with the club from 2023 but we’ll see him in Wests Tigers colours for pre-season before Christmas.

Utoikamanu going to a new level

Rising prop Stefano Utoikamanu became one of the best young forwards in the competition in 2021 and he’s set to get even better this season.

Flying Ken

Having signed with the club midway through 2021, gun winger Ken Maumalo is primed for a big season with Wests Tigers. He scored 15 tries in 21 games last season — can he beat that mark this year?

Membership Appreciation Round

We’ll thank all our Members during Membership Appreciation Round at our Round 14 clash against Manly Sea Eagles at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
