Best player? Moses

Biggest disappointment? Dylan Brown

The first rookie to make NRL debut?

Surprise packet? Mahoney

Breakout year? Mahoney

Best retention? Mahoney

The biggest name we let go? Evans

I only wish the last one is correct.

So I just went back and crunched the numbers on where everyone predicted we would finish. It makes for interesting reading given the way some people have been bitching the last few months.

1-2 - 20%
3-4 - 40%
5-8 - 30%
9-16 - 10%

70% of people (myself included) thought we’d be between 3-8.

So what changed, because people’s expectations suddenly got a lot higher? I assume it was the good start that we got off to. However, whilst we were playing better than we did at the back end of the season it was never at the level of teams like the Panthers or the Roosters who were killing it.

I think we did exactly what most people expected. It would have been nice to overachieve but at least we have established ourselves as a threat to most sides. I feel that the days of a good season followed by a really shit one are over for now. We have put a lot of building blocks in place and I see us as a club on the rise.

At the start of the season though I thought we had everyone covered except for Storm, Roosters and Raiders and would say that we would have better seasons than Panthers and Souths. So if either Panthers or Souths win the comp, then it was a comp we could've won in the end.

The reason people are bitching, is because 70 percent of us could see that the squad is good enough to compete for the premiership, hence the reason we picked them to make the 8. The bitching is because the coach has failed again to get this squad improved and firing at the right end of the season and giving the finals a shake, rather than going out without a whimper.

I reckon its not unreasonable that people who predicted anywhere from 1-6 would have expected at least 1 finals win.

Like last year, our best chance of a finals win would've been if we'd finished 5th or 6th.

But since we overachieved, I would've preferred to play the Roosters or Raiders this weekend. The week before I would've preferred anyone to f**king Melbourne.

I also would have preferred not to lose players to injury and suspension right at the business end of the season. It would've been better if we'd lost them at the start and had our luck in the finals instead of the other way around.

Either way, luck is always a factor. There's no need to create unnecessary narratives around it. That creates a problem that doesn't exist. The Roosters were unlucky this year as well, after having all the luck (on top of all their advantages) for two straight years.

We can improve our chances next year but there's no guarantees. Any premiership contender is only a chance of winning. After that they're depending on luck.

We finished 5th after finishing the regular season 3rd. If we lost our last regular season game but won our first finals game and then lost this weekend it is still largely the same result.

You really are stupid aren’t you?

90% of people picked us to finish Top 8, not 70%. Simple maths man!

To suggest that 100% of that 90% expected anything more than what we got is dumb in the extreme. If they did they would have picked us to finish as premiers. Only one person did that.

You picked them to finish 5th you f**ken simpleton. That’s where they finished. Yet somehow the rest of us are all ‘fools’ because we couldn’t see something that you could.

Pull your sword you Hindmarsh loving plonker. Talk about a f**ken pea heart. How was that floppers leadership? Non existent.

Next week the Storm might be lucky that Munster is back, or unlucky that he is out.
Guess we won't know until (1) he plays or not and (2) they win or not.
