Thank God you answered first so I could just say "me neither".You should know, you were standing next to me at the time!
Just to explain, this comes from an old quote that goes something likeTherefore you
haha haha. Both funny and trueYou should know, you were standing next to me at the time!
Iâm with you, just had a punt we will make the 8Well i put a bit of money i obviously didnt need where my optimism is ....reasoning?...with Bateman onboard we will have 6 players who weren't here this season and who have played grand finals including three who have won one or two....perhaps a couple more signings to come that could have half our run on side being current or past rep/ GF players...and again...that half never being part of the WT losing culture....add to that I am of the belief that Sheens still knows how to coach a team with talent...laugh all you want ...anyway I'm not a betting man but $6.00 to make the 8 leading into this pre-season seemed pretty good to me.... Bon Voyage hard earned $'s
Actually...nix the reasoning...I'm just betting on Api showing them how to not lose more than 49% of their games
Iâm with you, just had a punt we will make the 8
We are full up on players now right? 30 in the top grade?
29
The goal should definitely be top 8 now. I think we likely fall just short but weâll have a bit to cheer about
With a phenomenal #9 in Koro feeding our halves the ball, I think we will see a very different Brooks and Doeuihi next year. Whether it is enough to warrant their pay packets is another story entirely, but I'm trying to forget their form and starting fresh. What a shame we have no dominant half to lead this awesome pack around the park, I would be screaming with joy if we signed a Chad Townsend, heck even a fullback that could ball play would be great.
If you believe the narrative that Brooks is not an organising half back then it makes little sense to piss Hastings off and keep a halves pairing off A.D & Brooks.
I would have loved to have seen us use the money we are throwing at Moses on Hastings and depth in the centres.
With all that said I am genuinely excited for us for the first time in years.

Fair point but we are paying Brooks more than Jacko and he didn't guide us to wins in those games either. For me Hastings is the lesser of two evils. Still it's done now, all we can do is hope the right reins have been pulled.Do we need a dominant/organizing half though? I know we won the comp in 2005 but I still think our 2010/11 sides were the best weâve had. Neither Benji or Rob Lui were organizing halves, Robbie did all that. Korisau will play that role for us in 2023.
For all the love as a âgame managerâ Hastings got its worth noting we lost 7 games in 2022 which we lead at some stage in the second half, 4 of those we lead in the last 10 mins. I know you canât put the blame solely on him however youâd like to think the dominant half can get you home in at least half those.
Oh trust me my post wasnât defending Brooks, heâs absolutely as much to blame for our failings as Hastings.Fair point but we are paying Brooks more than Jacko and he didn't guide us to wins in those games either. Anyone know if we have any good young halves coming through ?
Thanks for that mate.Oh trust me my post wasnât defending Brooks, heâs absolutely as much to blame for our failings as Hastings.
Re young halves, we have some very good ones coming through however they are all 15-17 and years off doing anything in the NRL. Zane Camroux will likely be the nsw cup 7, 3-4 years ago he was a hot shot SG Ball player However really hasnât kicked on and tbh was horrible in cup last year. Kade Hill, played Jnr Maroons, has been the JF half the last 2 years and goes alright but doesnât look like he has âit.â
For the grades below we have a stack though:
Alex Conti - Halfback Balmain Matts - Jnr Blues camp
Alex Isdale - Halfback Wests Mattâs - Jnr Blue camp
Ontoni Large -5/8 Wests Mattâs - Aus U/15s
Heath Mason - 5/8 Wests Ball - Jnr Blues camp
You never know whatâs going to happen to these guys, So many gun 15-17 year olds never kick on, lose focus etc however these kids are the stand out 6/7 in their age groups.
