There were about 6 or 7. It made for depressing reading. We paid that guy that much???!!!!!

Our highest paid were Bateman and ice on $750k. Then down to AD klemmer api and bula all between $600 and $650k. I think I may have missed 1 in that but it's already in the recycling with all the cans from Friday night.
Our biggest disappointment, imo, was our highly paid players, mainly the forwards (Papi, Bateman, Klemmer & Stef) they were just rubbish and didn’t deliver.

That was my standout gripe of the year too. Mainly on the discipline side of things. I can accept, to a certain degree, that they can't do spectacular things during a game as they are often targeted and restricted by the opposition
What I can't accept is the amount of dumb penalties, sin bins, dropped ball ect. You name it, they found every way to lose a game and didn't stop doing it. Bateman in particular.
It's the 1%ers that are expected of them and they just didn't get it done.

The Brisbane Broncos won only four more games than us. You would think that they would have copped more of a media hammering considering their star studded roster compared to ours.
Maybe when you look at it like this we weren't that atrocious..We did wallop the Sharks and Raiders and beat the Cowboys, all teams that are in the finals.
We can put points on the board but can't defend for 80min.
Sack Morris and get some fresh blood in the joint.
Next year our middle may not be such a weak area.

Twal, Pole, Seyfarth, Sione Fainu, Klemmer, Hunt & maybe some kids coming through.

I'm okay with it.

I think I'd play Latu at 13 as well and play down a middle forward. I think he could do the job defensively and he can do stuff other players can't in attack. The issue is can we play down a middle forward and can Latu handle the load defensively over the course of the season.

Dunno. I've always said he would be a good bench utility so if it had to be 13 he may be able to do that.
Who's your tip for grand final

I think you'd bet on Penrith, then the Storm and the darkhorse would be Cronulla. I think Manly could do well if they had Tommy Turbo playing.

I always thought Blore had it in him, but Talau never seemed to get there, imo.

Brooks, Blore and Talau. I think with our club we pay certain players the wrong amounts and let go of other players that we shouldn't.

Blore to me is a better option than Bateman. I prefer our current halves over Brooks by miles including Latu Fainu but he was never as bad as what some supporters stated. He was just being judged as an elite level half when he is a decent second half option. Talau had his moments and could have been persisted with but I think it'd be hard to pick him in our backline next season. He just fit into the Manly team better than our team. I suppose Brooks is the same.

Agreed. We have a stack of players just like Talau in the 3/4 line, either not playing to their potential or not being developed properly. Some are bog average, chronically broken or both, but none of them have put their hand up and made their jersey their own like Galvin did this year. It feels like next year is another write off, waiting for those contracts to expire so that the squad space and cap space becomes available.

Madge would never have signed Bateman with Blore on the books.
