Can you say why mate?

In my opinion it's way down the list of priorities for this season for us.

I think the focus has to be on getting the offense to click. There is so much attacking potential in our squad. We need to run over teams.

Defense is also important.

The coaching staff to me is the biggest concern. Can they pick the right players and get them combining well ? Will we have good attacking and defensive structures ? Will we get some bad injuries ?

Goal kicking to me is way down the list.

Agree, but we do need a goal kicker.
I would be surprised if Api was our only option though.

I agree with most of this tiger, especially defense. It has to get a lot better and every player has to be accountable.
If we get slaughtered by 60+ again or get towelled up in a testimonial/memorial type of game I'll be so peeved off.
I think the more quality players you have in a side it negates this. Where getting there. :)
I can't agree on your view regarding the goal kicking though but I can see where your concerns lay and that's cool.

Turning 4 pts into 6, is huge, after a few tries have been scored.

E.g. 4 tries, no conversions = 16 pts
4 tries, with 4 conversions = 24 pts.
Which is basically 2 more tries.

Also goals are a given these days. To miss goals is nearly criminal.
Most good kickers are mid 80% success rate.
A majority of Penrith's tries are scored in the corner but The Chin keeps knocking them over from the sidelines.

It's not an either/ or....the focus can easily be on both. The wingers scoring 6 point tries is a huge advantage that every top 4 side has had

Not really. You pick the best team available and then the best goalkicker is the one with the duties. It's not an either/or thing. It's just a reality of the squad that we have.

Yep I do see it that way as well but....and it's a big but(t) ....the goalkicking competency of whoever it is and for now there's no reason it shouldn't be Api, has to be as much of a priority as any other facet of the game. Darryl Halligan..Ross Conlon...Hazem got their teams to grand finals with their boot. Of course it's stating the bleeding obvious but what's the point in yelling at your TV as well ...we still do that

@Nutz , he’s no shrinking violet.

Johannssens genuinley the type of guy who could get Origin hype after 25 games. He's got the physical attributes and goes all day. @Nutz

Its worth keeping in mind that the guy gave up footy and only started training for Sydney Shield (4th grade) in Feb this year. Doing a full NRL pre season will be insane for him

I get that this is nsw cup but this with the score at 14 all in the 75th minute after he played 55 mins

I see your point and we may just have to revert to just putting our strongest team on the park.
DaSilva is being groomed to eventually take over from Api so I can see him being our long term kicker.
He has kicked well in pathways.

I get it.

I am not getting worked up about our goal kicking options this season. I'm expecting the team to perform and there should be no excuses.

He needs to maintain the rage doesn't he. Just keep training hard and turning up. He'll get his chances.

Makasini is a GK, I think he will get a run next season, but I think they will be interested in his kicking abilities, which were pretty good, and at centre, is an ideal spot to be one.
You know, besides scoring tries, they don’t do much else hahaha
This season, he scored 92 points and finishing as the leading try scorer with 10 tries from as many games.
Not too shabby.
