Season 2025

I've been thinking about our team line up and rotations.
My thoughts are.....
Start with our biggest pack until Hunt needs a spell, probably 20min mark.
When Hunt goes off, Bird comes on to exploit the edges and Pole moves from lock to more of a middle role.
The reason for this is Bird, whilst fearless, can't be expected to do too much physical stuff at his age and body type.
The inclusion of DaSilva on the bench to give Api a spell and work more with Galvin. He also kicks if AD isn't playing.
More on AD. Most of you know that I predicted him to play this year a long time ago as we are limited in the centres. I stand by this. He has an unfavourable name tag which is understandable.
AD is a competitor though. In the past he was part of a poor team and he often overplayed his hand. His tackling is also shoddy at times. If he can sort that out he will be an asset, like him or not.
If he does play then DaSiva may miss the gig and they settle for another edge fwd like Matamua.
I'd like to get people's opinion of the possibility of Latu Fainu playing a dummy half role since our depth in the halves is solid.
In the world cup, he played in this role and has better service left and right than Api does. He also have an astute grubber kick to in-goal. I think he offers a more complete and versatile repertoire than most. A good benchy and backup to Api, maybe?
I've been watching replays and highlights of Luai and my take on him is his energy, especially in resetting the line. If one raid fails the the next quickly follows. This is what Penrith do so well and is the main reason they have those rings.
The faster you raid and reset the more likely players like Taruva will score in the corners.
Our team must learn to keep up especially our decoy runners. Passing the ball left then right won't work if we don't tie up the edges.
Finally, what's was the main reason we have got all those spoons. TERRIBLE DEFENSE!!!
I can't believe we have opted to keep Johnny Morris on who is our D coach. Something isn't working and something had to be done in the off season to address our defensive blunders. Or are we going to get 50+ put on us again? Maybe they have addressed it but I haven't heard how they are going to fix this.
They bought in Brett Hodgo but his coaching resume is very poor.
Anyway, just a few thoughts.
A good read nutzy. It’s hard to believe we are getting so forensic so early.

Anyway, the point about coaching is a good one.

We really need that aspect of “operation survival” to succeed.

That’s a 50/50 call atm and some would argue that’s way too generous!

I'm positive Richo and Benji read our forum posts TSP. The more help we can give them the better.
Complaining without offering a solution is poor form....we tick that box hey mate. :)

Lol, Richo and I haven’t spoken for 9 months. It’s his loss!

I was close to declaring war, then he went spare at the spoonbowl laughing hyenas.

So I pulled back.

Edge defenders…mobile and brutal. This is red line for us.

I am looking forward to a silky backline, bodies in motion, cut outs and God forgive me, SPEED!

There was an article, ranking our halves 4th best, but I consider that conservative. If they can get their acts together, they can reach the top.

Been watching the vlogs of one TerellDavisMay on YouTube and I’ve got to say the boy looks to be a diamond in the rough for the tigers. Got a real good feeling about this lad, it’s obvious he’s talented, he may not be a brain surgeon but he has everyday smarts and his dad has proper character. I think he is made of the right stuff to be the best prop in the game. Really excited for this one.

I agree. There’s several potential “crowd favourites” and leaders in the team now which is new and I think will make a big difference. Mays definitely one of them. There’s something about that boy.

Definitely not a brain surgeon :)
He can play big minutes which is exactly what we need considering Hunt's past fitness issues.

Mason, Galvin, Latu Fainu and Da Silva. The young brigade ready to move on up.
If you were told that one of these four lads wins the Dally M in 2027, who would you pick?

Mason. He’s only young and improving. He may currently have more downside than the others but he’s also up there with Galvin for X factor ..his acceleration is rediculous

For star signs TDS sits on the Cusp of Airies and Taurus - the cusp of power... the Chinese sign of the arrogant rooster makes him a boss you don’t want to fk with or you will lose! That would have stood out like dogs balls to Benji and why he’s captain

Benji having the softer empathy etc type personality is surrounding himself with these tough no nonsense players who can crack the whip for him not just on the field .Thats clever, making his job a lot easier and him more effective as a coach. Let’s hope so anyway

Benji does have a snap if needed. I've seen him unload at training for players not concentrating but generally as you say he does show empathy as well....part of his young days and family me fink.

I really like this kid but he has a huge size disadvantage. He will be a handy depth utility for us & as it currently stands with everyone available he’s behind TDS & Latu for the no.14 jersey

He was every bit as good as Galvin as a kid, but size is a factor nowadays. Galvin has a bigger frame and will end up a pretty big unit. Got to say I watched Mason a lot through the juniors and he is an out and out half, good acceleration, good footwork, fantastic timing and great hands, reads the game well and even as a 13 year could kick goals from anywhere on the park. Hope the kids gets a chance.

Very calm under pressure this type ..easy to underestimate them when u first meet them and not even see what they are capable of as they just quietly go about their business..they see everything very clearly in the middle of a storm..and communicate like the mafia ..calm but to the point ..I’m jealous
