Season '22

I read somewhere that Taylan is a conspiracist, if that is true, then he is dumb.
"a secret plan made by two or more people to do something that is harmful or illegal"

That is the meaning of conspiracy, so you think he will harm someone at the club?

So “no big loss” right?
He played one game. Looked solid but he scored no tries and actually kinda bombed one IIRC. No way to know what his career trajectory will be.

I remember Samoan Sauce (Christian Crichton) looking very similar on debut. We thought we could replace Josh for minimum wage. Bulldogs signed him and by the time the season was over I was thankful we wouldn't have to watch him in our jersey anymore. He just didn't kick on and actually looked worse as he got more footy. Like he really gave everything he could on debut but just couldn't maintain that letalone improve on it

We have no 2nd rowers. We can develop one but over the course of the season
We don't need a specular second rower if he's outside Cleary. Just someone who finds their front and gets quick play the balls and does their job in defence is enough. Look at how Melbourne rotated second rowers only for them to not go nearly as good at other clubs when they left. Cleary just double pumps and puts them over almost untouched for about 2/3rds of their tries on that edge. There are plenty of second rowers like that. It's deepest position depth wise in the NRL.

I know mate.

It’s more a comment relating to those who believe that it’s no great loss to lose players of the caliber of Moms thinking that someone from our juniors, with very little NRL experience and hasn’t played regular footy of any level since the start of the 2nd lockdown, can simply slot in and do what their predecessors could do.

Who then?
We likely move Hopgood or someone but they would be off the bench to start with you would think

The good thing was Bandy pretty much said the same thing.

Did I say that they were of the same caliber for Moms? No I did not. I am also aware that they have had very little, or in some cases, zero NRL experiences. Crichton, To'o, etc. when they first debuted, hit the ground running. Ivan, and co. knows which players are ready to take the next step up.

Some short memories, I thought the juniors could replace Whatuira when left at the end of 2004.

We ended up with Franze, Danny Galea, Lee Hookey, O'Halloran, Maurice Blair, Ben Pommeroy and probably more getting a go, Luke Lewis couldn't tackle in those days either. The best junior centre to come through was Jennings in 2007, Geoff Daniela had massive wraps on him and only ended up playing 44 games in his career.

We have a golden generation at the moment but the same was said in 2003.

I think we're good for a few years yet but worth remembering we went from 1st to 9th in two seasons the last time we won the premiership (and to a spoon within another two years).

Momo out of the side instantly improves attack on the edge. Critter only needs a solid ball running threat inside him

Exactly!

Paul Franze was supposed to be our saviour to replace Girds. That turned out well 🙄 Just ask Luke Rooney…

And don’t get me started on O’Halloran. I still remember the “big announcement” at the end of 2005 that was made of a major signing. When it was announced as O’Halloran, it went down like a freakin’ lead balloon on the old Panthers Interactive forum.

I, for one, do hope that whoever it is that we bring in to replace Moms can step up and do the job. Whether it’s one of our juniors or a cheapie from another club, though the latter is offering very slim pickings.

He is a middle. Doesn't pass, doesn't use footwork. Just runs straight in hard. Teams Know what they get with him
He's improved his passing. Did it a handful of times in attacking situations whereas the year before it was just that try try Staines set up burning Sharks players with his pace then passing to Edwards.

He is better in the middle but he'll do enough. Another year older with another preseason.

Likely no Cleary, Martin and a new centre to start the season that right side is going to be very ordinary.

Hopefully Jenkins, Salmon or someone carves up in pre season and Tago can move to the backrow. Also will allow Kikau to play less minutes.

Or even Hopgood or someone get moved wider and again allows Martin to move sides or off the bench
