*sits down on comfy interview couch*

We're going pretty well I think? There seems a lot of new F7s players this year, which is great to see. Hopefully the new players are enjoying it and will be keen to stay on next year and in the future.

The Eels are shaping up ok, and are hoping to apply pressure from behind while teams attempt to secure their finals spots. Wins have been hard to come by so far, and we slipped up by only getting 4 posts in twice.

Hard to go past the so far undefeated Warriors as a team to beat, but with the Bluebags and Titans right behind them and more than capable of a win on the day.

That most recent rep game (Aus v ROTW) was pretty special as far as best match of the season so far.

Pieces that stood out... I usually only read the games the Eels have been involved in as the season progresses, and then do a read through of the other games after we've been knocked out. So will have to come back later on that one.

The Eels progress has been pleasing, particularly the the number of new players joining up during the season (7) and the number of games played between them so far (15). Bodes well for the future if all these new players are keen to carry on in F7s next year.

Other thoughts? I think the spacing of the season games (mixed with rep breaks and byes) worked well this season, and it didn't feel like the F7s commitment was too onerous through the year.

The bonus point for getting all 5 posts in works well as an incentive imo, and gives teams something to aim/play for toward the end of the season if they're not fighting it out for finals places.

Only three teams seem to have managed to get every post in so far (Warriors, Bluebags, Titans), with Roosters only missing one, and Eels missing two. I suppose that's not a bad hit rate overall? I know the captains of the other teams have tried hard to get those five in all season too. Having any more than 9 teams would have meant a bigger struggle to make F7s work effectively with 5v5s this season, imo.

*smiles at the camera, thanks Pistol for the interview *

How are we going this year? The competition itself is going pretty well, dare I say better than previous seasons. More article are being submitted, and overall quality (in respect to the marks they receive) is on the increase which is also good for competition.

How is each team shaping up? There are a few teams struggling for numbers, however those teams appear to have several very committed players who are playing almost every possible game they can. I think there should be an evening out of team numbers to allow for a fairer competition, where teams can get 5 articles in every week.

What is your opinion of the team to beat? Titans imo are shaping to become the best F7's team for the next few years.

Best game of the season so far? Rest Of The World vs Australia

Pieces that stood out for you? so so many, not enough lunch break to list them all. I'll come back to this one. Pistol's ROTW article has brilliant imo.

Is each skipper happy with their teams progress? Well I can't speak for Mick, but we're in Finals contention for the first team since 2006, so I reckon he'd be happier than the past 2-3 years lol

How are we going this year?
As it is my first season being involved in this competition, I couldn't have imagined it being any better. New people are treated as equals in this competition and it is a great thing to be involved with, one that I personally hope to be involved with for years to come.

How is each team shaping up?

We look at this every match. Even the lower teams produce articles of amazing quality, but the numbers I guess do let them down at times. If teams like the Dragons produced five articles, they'd be a very hard team to beat. Overall, even before this season began, I knew there would be three big competitors, but it's been close between those teams and the six others, we weren't far off the Titans; an effort I was damn proud of.

What is your opinion of the team to beat?
I cannot go past the mighty Warriors. I keep reading their articles and keep loving every single thing they do. They'll be hard as all hell to beat.

Best game of the season so far?
All of the representative matches this year have been spectacular, especially (repeating everyone else here) the Australia vs Rest Of The World match. Both teams played with great spirit, and great ability. On a club level, and a personal level I cannot go past our match against the Wheels in the PvP. Enjoyed that match one hell of a lot.

Pieces that stood out for you?
I've read a lot, I remember one from Azkatro, one from Jesbass, one from rayroxon, one from Willow, one from madunit and one from Bartman - couldn't tell you which ones quite yet. Will get back to it. On a personal level I loved adamkungl's Five Stages Of Getting Flogged article, a personal favourite.

Is each skipper happy with their teams progress?
A major concern for me before the season start was that it would be my fault if we were a flop. But together, with some of the greatest people on this forum, we've managed to become a really tight unit and do quite well. We're fighting for a finals spot, and I assure you, thanks to gaining confidence of how my team plays, we won't be there to make up the numbers.

Any or more you want to add, feel free.
I would just like to say a major thank you to all of those who've personally given me, and also those who've given the Ozzie Roosters a major welcome into this competition. You guys are amazing, it has been stressful nevertheless, but I have loved every minute of it.

How are we going this year?
We have shaken off the second year syndrome and are looking forward to competing right 'till the very end of whenever it is deemed to be the very end.

How is each team shaping up?
The Titans have blooded two new players this year, in keeping with our 'small but dedicated' philosophy. Both have performed admirably and with the rest of the squad contributing well, the make-up of a finals team will be a toss of a coin (that's assuming my wife will let me have one... coin that is).

What is your opinion of the team to beat?
A semantically challenging question... the team to beat, perhaps should read the 'teams' to beat, so here they are in my opinion, followed by my opinions of them: teams to beat... whichever team we are playing at any given time; opinion of them... wonderful players, great pensmen (please read penswomen where relevent) and good sports to boot.

Best game of the season so far?
Every 5v5 game, as this the essence of why we play.

Pieces that stood out for you?
Pistol, you devil, this is a truly ambiguous question and begs for multi-viagara quips.

Is each skipper happy with their teams progress?
Couldn't be happier. The team's (captain's) coffers are full to overflowing and my planned executive class, end of season cruise down the Nile is booked and paid for. The rest of the team's oar-side reservations on the galley deck have been confirmed too.

I want to hear all your opinions.
In light of my previous answers the list of all my opinions would be extensive, however on F7's:

i. I agree with bartman that the season seemed to fly past.
ii. Perhaps Origin could be the best of three (no need for a dead rubber, though).
iii. Rep duties could be offered first as a reward for those excelling on the scoreboard.
iv. The end of season fixtures could be set prior to the season.
v. Perhaps a new addition to pre-season or even a mid-week tournament could be a one on one or doubles knock-out comp.
vi. Perhaps a deadline for marking needs to be implemented, yes I know it's voluntary and bloody difficult at times but lengthy delays do detract from the competition.

Any or more you want to add, feel free.

This one is totally my fault due to pressing workload (not really an excuse as I offered Willow in the first place) but tits&tans and I will have a good shot at getting the best articles up on the site asap.

I was wondering when someone would pick up that double entendre ;-)

Oh, I see - I thought it was just a personal question. ...lol... you mean like "next time you're over this way, drop in and we can talk about the first thing that pops up?" ...clever dick :D

You see what happens when you start writing again? You get all hot and bothered.

Alright, alright... I'll talk. Just leave the girl alone... she has nothing to do with this.

Titans are looking good after a shaky start, the competition remains highly entertaining. Some great pieces from new players have been highly enjoyable.

After last year's enthralling duel, I'm keeping a weather eye on the Bags.

ROTW was a hoot, the opening Titans/Baggers was high class.

Whilst I remain ridiculously impressed with my own work, moustache, taste in aglets, sexual prowess, ability to recognise a quality quiche when I see one, I think Bartman and Titanic have been in serious form with the ROTW match as no small proof.

Better to ask if we're happy with the progress of our skipper. I can't speak for those other tits, but I find Titanic's implicit support of logging in northern Brazil to be vile and utterly unconscionable.

Other opinions? Well, granting indigenous landholders trade-able rights over forest land may be help reduce hardwood poaching, but it is certainly no quick-fix solution. Leaving the Amazonian basin aside, I'd like to tender three points for discussion.
1) Approaching other forums/websites to spread the concept and hold inter-sport fixtures.
2) Eliminating the hidden management forum. Sunlight is the best bleach.
3) Continuing with publishing option investigations (paper and web)
4) Consideration of other-media matches (movies, pics, sounds easy to create, would add fascinating depth)
5) Presentation of a joint letter of condemnation regarding illegal logging in the state of Roraima.
6) My inability to comprehend basic numeracy.

Addendum: have we ever contacted any RL mags? I browsed through one briefly the other day and thought that the addition of the Panther's writers would improve it endlessly.

How are we going this year?

Do I really need to answer that question? To be honest, I'm very disappointed with the way our season has panned out thus far. Very frustrating when we fail to get all 5 in, and a little disheartening for a skipper when it's from more than one player in the team. The promise is definitely there however, and I'm sure that if we can manage to get the full compliment of articles in each week, we can give the comp a shake.

How is each team shaping up?

There is most definitely an abundance of writing talent in this competition. In fact, a lot of writers here I feel produce quality that exceeds what we see from mainstream RL publications. I love what I'm seeing from the Warriors in particular, and the Roosters will prove to be a big player in coming seasons.

What is your opinion of the team to beat?

The premiers this year I feel will come from the Warriors, Titans, or Bluebags. All 3 of these teams deserve the "team to beat" mantle. In hindsight, to lose to the Warriors by a single point was quite an achievement for us.

Best game of the season so far?

Hard to call, but I would have to say the 2008 GF rematch.

Pieces that stood out for you?

Soooo many - can't pick a favourite to be honest. Bias aside, I'm a big fan of Dubopov's stories. They're refreshingly different, with a good dose of humour.

Is each skipper happy with their teams progress?

I think I covered that in the first question. I'm sure that if we can get all 5 in, we'll challenge the higher ranked teams.

I read somewhere recently that Big Mick and the team were preparing for their annual "nothing but sunnies" calendar photo shoot.

How are we going this year?

We as in F7's in general or as in you and I? Either way I'm enjoying as much as last season and the season before but not the season before that cos it just sounded weird.

How is each team shaping up?

Good I 'spose. Given that a full compliment turns up, I reckon every team has enough talent in their roster to push every other team.

What is your opinion of the team to beat?

The Wily 'bags or the internationally based Titans. The bags are always a force and there's something dynastic and ominous about the latter plus their captain is so dreamy and commanding.

Honourable Mention: I love playing the Panthers for that total pants off feeling.

Best game of the season so far?

Any game involving Ma Dunit or is it Madu Nit :p

The rep games have been a stand out for me. I really enjoyed the Dragons Warriors game as well but that's just bias.

Pieces that stood out for you?

Anything engorged and turgid really. I've really enjoyed Bay Vikings pieces this year, very thought provoking and a perfect foil for the rest of our tripe. Antonious has been stellar as well and how could I forget our Rookie sutts? From the other teams, dubopov has been great, DaveQ is a literary giant and Amadean is another personal fave. In terms of individual articles, I'd have to find them and let you know and I'll be far too apathetic to do that so pip pip, job well done fella's and all that.

Is each skipper happy with their teams progress?

No. Jesbass wants more, always more. I fear him and his taut thighs.

Anything else?

It's been a pleasure to see Non Terminator drive the Roosters through the season so far. His enthusiasm for the game is something to behold.
I think I love him.

Many thanks mate, it's been a pleasure to be involved. I possibly love you too, possibly because you did write about the Roosters in our match this year (gosh...as I remembered missed the 2002 GF ;-) )

How are we going this year?
Great, and fantastic.

How is each team shaping up?
Each team has their own issues, normal stuff since 2002.
The overall health of the F7s determines the strength of the competitions and the teams.
It has to be a 'team effort' at a competition level.

What is your opinion of the team to beat?
In my opinion, any team with five articles is a contender.

Best game of the season so far?
The Aust v ROTW is being heralded - hard to find a better match.

Pieces that stood out for you?
Rookies, I love seeing new players on debut!

Is each skipper happy with their teams progress?
Yep.

How are we going this year?
Very high standard I feel out of my depth. My only critism is the time it takes to get the marks. Some games are being marked well into the next round. I know the refs are volunteers, but it does take something away when it takes so long to get a mark.

How is each team shaping up?
Pretty much the same as it's always been, some strong teams some strugglling. However the struggling teams seem to change season to season. I mean we still have the Baggers who have always been strong, but the rest seem to fluctuate, we just need to encourage new players, they will strengthen the comp.

What is your opinion of the team to beat?
Bags and Titans.
Best game of the season so far?
The Aust v ROTW .

Pieces that stood out for you?
Pistols in the ROTW game.

Is each skipper happy with their teams progress?
N/A
