An interesting question is who does Cory Paterson play for?
He came to Newcastle as a 17 year old and i'm sure i've heard he played open grade in WA before coming to Newcastle.
SOO goes on where you first played seniors, so i'd say he either isn't available for SOO or is available for anyone he wants.

I'd have Vic and ACT alligned to NSW and WA/NT and SA alligned to Q'land.

Would be nice to have our own SOO v Vic with a mix of NRL players and local talent.

Why SA aligned to QLD? They share about as much border with QLD as they do with NSW...?

Just trying to come up with a solution! At the end of the day they shouldn't be allowed to play for either, but that would punish a player just becasue he is from an emerging state. At least this way there is some sembilence of rhyme and reason as to who plays for who.

Just did it by population size as much as anything.

As I said my preference would be our own SOO against Vic as a pre game to Q'land vNSW.

yeh, if i was a professional league player, straight out of club here, played for storm or warriors or reds (if had a league team), and had to play SOO to be eligbale for australia, i'd consider playing for kiwis (more than eligable), i feel more alligened with them than NSW or QLD tbh, seeing as tho most players nowadays come from these 2 states who then go on to play for australia i'd seriously consider where my allegiences lay, i wouldn't feel right to play for NSW or QLD if i was in these circumstances (of never being associated with either NSW or QLD)

If the pinnacle of RL was internationals then i'd play for NSW (if i had to, i'd rather have a separate SOO tbh).
