Seg would allow the team to play a more up tempo game which I think is essential if we are to give it a shake this season. Seg is a runner who tests ruck defenders with acceleration and footwork. Brailey looks solid and smart but at point of his career isn't as dangerous. Seg should also be at his peak which we need given the experience the team will lose in the next 12 months.

We are already that side.
Do you think the top 24 players & 12 reserve graders would be happy knowing that they had a shot a title, if the club landed a specialist, experienced hooker, but took the cheaper, long term approach to blood a youngster for 2-3 years? I know I wouldnt be as a supporter.Levae the foot on the throat & always be a top 4 team. We are the best placed club in the league now to achieve that.
So you can guarantee we'll have a shot at the title if we land Seggy? I personally think our biggest loss will be Barba. Still see us as 4th - 8th proposition this year. Still would love to hear where that $650k is coming from by the way.

Oh, agree with Barba, however, that is completely dependent upon whomever plays fullback.
$650 is his average if transfer is paid , correct? I dont know, whats he asking? it certainly wouldn't be $250k

Would imagine it would have to be a backended contract to allow us to pay the transfer fee. Supposedly the Nrl have said it wouldn't register anything under 250k for the season but that still sounds faarrkken cheap. Still have the Leeds hurdle to overcome though.

The underestimation of Brailey confusions me, not to take away from the Earl of Engadine, I would have another hooker rather than a back on the bench (Fu), kid will need a break, at first, but we have an 80 minute hooker. Who will do what coach says.

Saw Foran interviewed in his first season. It was about round 10 and he had a bye and was commenting how necessary it was to have a week off.
The week to week collision of the toughest sport in the world was taking its toll. He was saying everybody is playing with bumps, bruises and injuries after round 1.
And Foran was a tough kid - playing 5/8, defending on the edge.

Brailey is defending in the ruck. He is not a realistic option to start for 26 weeks in first grade.

Neither is Mortimer. Neither is Brown.

There's one answer to be top 4.

Seggy as starter. Brailey off the bench.

Brailey has 2018 written all over him.

Remember this Cameron Smith debuted for Storm when 19, then played hooker at 20 for them, he played 24 games that season and never played less then 20 per season

I'm on Brailey, watched him last year a couple of times & the trial at Redcliffe.
He has a good attitude & puts in.
Hope he goes well.

I don't get the Chad hate. A cronulla junior who only ever wanted to play for us. Won a Grand Final, a premiership, with us. I reckon he would die for us. But, you know, we the fickle fans, know better.
I'll always remember him as the player that won us the final against Canberra by being clocked on the head twice (two penalty goals) Then winning us the final against Melbourne by being clocked on the head... twice (penalty goal and Fifita try)

Chad's a bit pedestrian at times, he's the boring safe guy that seems to do the simple things but can get bogged down a bit and struggles to come up with that magic play to get us through the line. Was very telling in the WCC, I'm willing to call it pre-season cobwebs at this stage but he's going to need to fire up and find something extra this year imo.

Chad was great. We all wrote him off when he re-signed. Then he went and won us a premiership. The nerve of that merkin!

I had a shot at Chad last year, he stood up when counted.

This year is massive for Chad, we have Jimmy off contract end of 2018, and he hasnt got many years left, Chad has always been the foil to Jimmy and before that Shaun Johnson at Warriors.

Can he go to next level, can he be the dominant half, he is off contract end of 2017, Broncs already rumored to be looking at him, so for Chad he needs to show he is a dominant half or otherwise we might need to look elsewhere going forward, as we need to be prepared past Jimmy

Yeah agree with this....don't think he'll be a superstar first year but think he'll hold his own and surprise plenty of people as the year goes on. Sharks fans are like a 50 year old that finally lost its virginity at 50 and all of a sudden he thinks he's gonna score every week from then on....be realistic and enjoy the ride with these up and comers (so to speak)....exciting times ahead!

I want to see Chad run the ball more.

When he did that last year he had awesome games.

The second half of the year he was a bit robotic and just looking to feed the ball to someone rather than do something for himself.

The poor bloke had a broken hand and hardly trained remember... and was rushed back for the WCC.

So it looks like chad is the early favourite for this forums blame game.

Next line of betting will be Beale and bird followed by a blast from the past P Gallen at 10-1.
