Madness!
Its Souths vs ???? in next years GF - that's the guarantee I predict that Bennett will deliver the Rabbitohs - his influence is that great that Burgess, Inglis, Gagai, Reynolds will become super players and don't forget Pangai Jnr following Benett now that Crichton is gone...
Brisbane finish above Souths.

Agree, and add to the pressure of being a head coach where their key player is his son, Hmmm ..

We all knew it would happen, but suddenly Cleary's credentials as a coach have mysteriously risen with no valid rationale. Time will tell, but this is a massive long term gamble for Gould.
Not one of Gould’s gambles have ever come off.
It started way back when he put Fittler in as RoRters coach, sacked him 2 years in.
Sacked Cleary mark 1.
Sacked Griffin.
Will have to sack Cleary again.
Gould is only good for deflecting blame, and sacking players like Cartwright and Moylan......
He is a wanker

I doubt it, Seibold, like players do, will suffer second year syndrome.
Souths are a tribal club, heart and soul.
Brisbane are a corporate organisation
The Burgess brothers, Inglis, keary, gagai, Damien cook and co,
Give me the rabbits to coach any old day
It’s going to hurt seibold, immensely.

Yeh but Gus keeps saying from the start the chasing and signing of Cleary has nothing to do with him, it is the board doing all the chasing talking...yeh right. He just told Griffin his time was up and you better go now! Gus is innocent. Talk about a team taking a big risk and a gamble based on a players wishes to play under his dad.
It will either be a huge feel good story which Channel 9 will run with and play to death or......
I must admit they have a pretty talented squad and depth but a couple of their forwards are down in form

They do have a lot of talent and a heap of juniors
They need to get rid of Gould
The board does nothing with Gould’s nod
Gould sacked Cleary mark 1
Gould sacked griffin
Gould moved Moylan and Cartwright on
Gould is saying it’s the board so when Cleary cuts short his West tigers contract he would be able to say it wasn’t me who got him to do it
My final thought, why would anyone want to live in Penrith versus the inner west vibrant society
Cleary is a fool

I dont think the Cleary's will be moving house.
Funny you talk about the inner west. It was Ballmain / Leichhardt and Lidcome areas that merged so its funny how the Western Suburbs & Balmain Tigers merged to take all the Liverpool, Campbelltown and Camden areas as part of their own and have extended to Group 6 territory. I wonder if the Magpie & Tiger traditionalists and faithful love having Campbelltown or Leumeah as a home ground.
They should be a super club with all that area as a nursery

So the latest details seem to imply ...................

Every moving coach is prepared to 'move on' to their new club, without being paid out for the remaining years ........... except Bennett.

As much as l wanted him back at the Dragons, he really does have the charisma of a funeral director.
( sorry to any member that is a funeral director in advance )

Bennett alone, now has the power to basically, control up to four teams in their decision making for the new season. I'd bet he'd do it just to p!ss the Broncos off and have the last laugh.

They can also pay Ivan 500K a year of Nathan's contract and keep it off the cap.

I always said and still say to this day, that young Cleary is only a half decent player.
Don't think l've seen him what everyone seems to go on about.
He ok, in fact, possibly good but l think most of it is media talking him up.
From what little l saw of Penrith this year, he was ok.
Origin........... ok but didn't stand out like the media crap on about.
Senior Cleary is ........ ok.
Did a reasonable job with the Warriors ( which is not easy )
Didn't set the world on fire first time round at Penrith.
Same applies to stint at Tigers.
Some good wins but also some heavy defeats.
Like father, like son.

But you forget when they played the Dragons of course he had a blinder.
But I tend to agree, however his defense is very good for a small bloke.. better than Benny Hunt who I still love for us. Yeh the media were quiet afterwards when he could not nail those field goals against the Nulla in the semi.
He like Hunt had a quiet back half but dont forget he got injured first 9 weeks or so, just came back before Origin

I was just wondering what the chances are of my lotto ticket winning tonight’s $20mill. Draw and that of the 5 coaches getting lost in transit and all ending up at WIN Stadium on the first day of pre-season training ? Perhaps we could catch one of them on the rebound ?

If yoy consider the chances of us replacing McGregor or you winning lotto, GA67...... You'd have to be a dead certainty to be rolling in coin.

None of these events should really shock anybody here. Like it or not there was really very little justification for sacking Mary before next season, off the back of our best season since 2010.

Now, I don't see Mary as our long term coach, nor do I want him, but the fact is Mary saved himself with those finals performances.

Other teams cutting short their coach contracts has cut down on options we were surely considering. All I ask from our board is they do not renew Mary's contract before the end of next year. As infuriating as it was at the time, I'm willing to assume the board believed the previous fade outs were a fluke when they extended him in 2017. But it's now happened TWICE since they last signed him, and reports were they were considering sacking him this year after that Dogs game, so I don't believe they would do that again

Geoff Toovey 2020 please
Mary has been our long term coach and for sure it is time for his term to end. I'm very confident that none of the leading clubs would have kept him on. The old boys just don't care, they're more interested in maintaining their commitments made on previous deals that have been done. They sit their cosy and stress free with the noses in the trough.

Is it better for Siebold and Bennett stay where they are and move on in 2020, or move immediately?

I seem to think they if they stay the players will not put in as much for them seeing they are leaving the club the next year, especially Souths. If I was a player at Souths I would be pi$$ed that he chose to leave after a year. Bronco's may put in seeing it is his last year but it really looks like they are divided. They look like a team that is split.

If they move immediately then they will probably perform better and their sides will lift to impress the new coach. Hence why I think better they stay for Saints sake. 2 less teams to worry about.
