Reads like Semi's lawyers were very intimidating in the cross examination.

Dropping charges is not the same as having the charges heard and receiving a not guilty verdict, but well done Semi - you can hopefully bring back your best form for the rest of the season.

It's even better, isn't it? Because when they drop the charges it means that the prosecution has determined that their case is f**ked? So what outcome do you think is likely if they'd proceeded?

You'd have to admit what he's offered the team in the past 12 months has been a poor substitute of what he offered in the12 months before that?

As above, I hope he can regain his form without proceedings hanging over his head.

The article said the prosecution requested a break to "take advice", which seems code for the witness being in a bad state, and requesting not to continue the character assassination by the defenfents lawyers. Happens too regularly to female alleged victims in DV cases brought to court.

And different to a not guilty finding, as sometimes the welfare of people involved is more important than the procedures themselves.

I would have thought the "taking advice" was more - our case has been exposed like a portugese chicken and we need to talk to the judge (there was no jury in this) and see if he sees any way forward .... and the answer seemed to be no - bye bye

The outcome doesnt say he never did anything - it just says that she appears to have made a concerted effort to get the media and authorities involved to obtain further payment ... hence she came off looking bad and case fell apart .... doesnt mean nothing happened - also doesnt mean something happened

Is portugese chicken cooked a certain way so that is somehow gets "exposed"? I've never eaten Portuguese chicken.

Do prosecutors "take advice" from the judge? Maybe in TV law shows - otherwise I thibk prosecutors know full well when their goose is cooked without advice. And not every prosecution tgat proceeds to a ruling is successful... take it or leave it, thus smelks like a welfare situation to me.

Some people are harder to 'character assassinate' than others. Maybe a lesson about casting stones? But if you're feeling vindictive, dropping your DV case isn't going to help you get revenge. Should've stuck to her guns, unless she realised she didn't actually have any.

My personal opinion is that some of the allegations are probably true - both parties are from cultures where DV is more accepted than it is in Australia. But she is also obviously an arsehole, and while she doesn't seem to have broken the law, her reputation has made her testimony (in a her-word-against-his case) close to worthless. A tiny woman can't be expected to protect herself physically against a giant like Semi Radradra, but she could have done a lot more to protect herself legally.
