Serious question re John Morris

When we first signed him from you guys in 2007 I wasnt stoked however wasnt upset. I thought with Farah, Marshall and Hodsgon there he would be a solid addition and could play a role in the team. I watched him with interest in the Eels team and didnt think we had done too badly.

However since he has been in Wests Tigers colours the bloke has been nothing but an abysmal failure. Whether it be in the 6,7 or 9 he has been terrible. I could count the try assists on one hand in his 3 years.

If we have a three man overlap he runs it himself, if he sees a gap he kicks it (either dead or out on the full), when he passes it its either a foot above the player or when they are a meter away from the defence and have no chance of doing anything. When defending our line he has rushed up numerous times for an intercept and allowed someone to stroll straight past him.

He is constantly put into 3 on 2 situations by Farah and Marshall and he always f*cks it up.

Ive seen a hell of a lot of rubbish in Tigers colours over the years however none of them compare to this bloke.

So my question for Eels fans is, was he always this bad? Was he constantly murdering overlaps and giving his team mates a ride to RPA? Or has he saved it all up for us?

I thought he was good for us but only when he played at no 9

he was played out of position too much I reckon

John Morris single handedly won us the 2005 minor premiership and was our best 5/8 since Brett Kenny

Here's your answer.

In 2005 Morris had 19 try assists for Parra - that's in 26 games

In the entire time he's been with the Tigers he has played 55 games and has 19 try assists.

I just think he's been getting progressively worse since 2005. He was fairly sketchy in 2006 for us - he tried to overplay his hand and do too much - or perhaps he thought he was better than he was? And in Tigers colours I guess it's much of the same...

I thought he played his best football for us in 05 at 6 outside of Tim Smith.

It also helped having a fit Ben Smith, Tahu, Grothe and an emerging Jarryd Hayne all playing some great football outside him as well. He wasn't short of options.

Isn't it obvious? He saved it all up for you guys. I mean why would he give a rats arse? It's only the Tigers, not the mighty Eels. You need to take a reality check dude, the Tigers really arn't worth the worry.

I feel sorry for John Morris mainly because he's been moved around a lot and been dubbed with the utility tag.

I find him similar to Michael Ennis, in that they were both moved around a lot, the only difference is now is that Ennis has been able to get a regular gig in his preferred position now and the Broncos last year and Bulldogs this year have reaped the benefits.

I always thought Morris was good at hooker and I'm not suggesting he will be a world beater in the position or as good as Ennis became after regularly nailing down the spot, but I think if Morris consistently played hooker over the past couple of seasons, he'd be considered a much better player, but as long as he's at the Tigers, he will not play hooker, so IMO you wont get the best out of him.

But look on the brightside Tiger Nick, you've got the best defensive half in the competition :D

He was ok at 9 but otherwise he was a waste of money for us. Trust me, i was not upset when he left.

Hayne didn't play in 2005 :?

Morris' best season was 05, I agree. He was overshadowed a bit by Tim Smith's debut year though.

And yesterday he was bloody shocking, Tigers should cut him.

He did debut in 2006 when he had another good haul of try assists but yes I was wrong about 2005. Mind you he still had some pretty good options.

Another useless nuffy, just like Lowrie, Perry and Kurt Gidley, who continually had smoke blown up his arse by the johns brothers and their media mates, inflating peoples opinions of their ability.
