Meaney I'd handle if he were on minimal coin.

Mullaney is no different to McDonnell. Thousands of trys in his age group, too small for FG.

I'd give Meaney and Mullaney both a crack this year to see they're up to it. Really a waste letting McKinnon run around now even though he's been great this year up until last weekend.

Talk of Mullaney's size is garbage..Hodgo was tiny...the Cronulla fullback is tiny...

Love to see Lawrence or Tuqiri but it weakens that edge and that is the strongest thing this team has.

Brown is not a first grade fullback. Moltzen is not a first grade footballer.

I can only assume some players are on heavily backloaded contracts (Tuqiri may be one, Galloway as well, among others.)

even still, given the talent at the club, we shouldn't be over anywhere as near as much as it appears that we are.

In a few lines, can you explain what this is/means?

Player signs for 3 years, first year is minimal in dollar value with the remaining two years being for much higher in dollar value. So small up-front payment to get player under the cap and make it up them later in the contract.

Of course, problem with doing this is if you can end up with a huge cap total two or three years down the track, which is what most are speculating has happened at the Tigers.

I dare say most of our high paid players are on backloaded contracts.

The club already decided once that this bloke isn't the right option. Since then we've let go of Shannon Gallant, Rhys Hanbury, Rhys Pritchard, moved Moltzen, tried Ryan, bought McKinnon and overlooked Meaney and Mullaney. There's no way that Junior Burger would be better than any of these blokes.

Everyone said Lote signing with us was the worst kept secret in the NRL, but given our past performances with recruitment, I never really believed he'd sign with us until the press release came out and he confirmed it. I feel the same about Adam Blair and now Josh Dugan. I fully expect not to get either one of them.

We do desperately need a traditional fullback and I'd be pretty happy with someone like Isaac Gordon over the current jokers getting a run in #1 jersey. McDonnell on the other hand would do my head in. The bloke I wanted from Newcastle just re-signed with them.
