Sharks cap superthread - latest: NRL clears Flanagan to assistant coach from 2020

Good on him, about the only good thing to come out of this whole mess. Hopefully the board don't give him the flick for having integrity!

But Russell insists he has no regrets for self-declaring potential cap breaches before he took the helm in February this year, which has now inadvertently resulted in Flanagan’s apparent dismissal.
“I had to self-report. If you haven’t got your integrity, you haven’t got anything. And I would do the same thing again,” Russell said. “If you’ve done the wrong thing, you have to suffer the consequences. No one is bigger than the game and no one is bigger than the club.”
Greenberg hailed Russell’s honesty after the Sharks CEO unwittingly brought down his club’s 2016 premiership-winning coach.

“Barry Russell deserves significant credit in this in a difficult environment,” Greenberg said.

“Barry Russell loves his club and loves the game, so what he’s tried to do is get to the truth — an uncomfortable truth for him and his club.

“But he’s acted with integrity and with professionalism throughout, and he’s a shining light of an example of what leadership looks like in a club inside the NRL.”

You think that? Cause it sure want my point....
You were literally suggesting that Greenberg's picking on Cronulla. The entire episode right now is of their own doing - sadly for people like Barry Russell he's been left to pick up after other people's shit.

Oh great, PR likes baz, that fills me with confidence. The only good thing to come out of this is for other clubs and potential expansion areas.

But we’ve weathered worse, Todd is still fundamentally hopeless, so all good in time.

Why would the Board have an issue. They authorised him to report to the NRL

Was wondering why Greenburg had picked Cronulla out now and demanding them to prove their solvency when he could have had my club, the titans, Saints, Tigers over the years as well for similar poor management.

Yes it does feel like he is singling them out...

No offence but of the clubs you named:

1. Only Cronulla does not have a major sponsor. The rest I believe do;
2. None of the others posted a reported $3-$4 million loss for last season;
3. None of the others are looking at an $800,000 fine.

As such I could see why anyone would be concerned about the Sharks solvency.

None of the others have the development that the sharks have either.
While it’s useless now it won’t be in 12 months.

TBF it was tweet by a journo, there has been no official comment from the club or NRL that this is true. Someone shark fishing perhaps? Greenberg has expressed a concern as well he might given the events of the last 12 months and the Sharks current financial situation.
