I wonder, if this does end up being the end of the sharks... is Flanagan a hero for delivering the one and only premiership, or is he the most hated man in club history for presiding over and contributing heavily to their ultimate demise

Is a premiership for a long suffering fan base worth losing the club?
Probably not.

Nah

Waiting all that time with the threat of folding over our heads with no premiership was shit.
We won it.
So now if we fold ( which we won’t ) at least we got to experience victory.
I was there.
Stone cold sober
It was a heart stopper

Yeah that all seems fair actually. What ever happens, no one can take those memories away from you.
FWIW i dont think the sharks will fold or relocate, they'll figure it out and i hope they do.

I don’t want any team to fold....especially if it is to insert some bullshit team in to please the NRL’s idea of spreading it out.
Who the f**k is Todd Greenberg to decide that?
He has been there 5 seconds.
Wish he’d f**k right off actually.
...and I don’t usually say that about people in charge of the game.
I really really don’t trust or think he has a clue.

With mid strength the only thing on offer sober was the only option.

I’m thankful for it now though!

I was there with a life long supporter who had moved to Queensland 30 years ago. The dude is a lifelong tragic from day 1. Was battling cancer at the time and just slumped down in his seat after we’d won while I was jumping around like a goose. I thought he might of collapsed but was just pure relief and quiet joy for this bloke.

So yeah, thanks flanno.

Cronulla Sharks set to receive $9 million windfall before 2019 NRL season
It was a catastrophic week for the Sharks but it’s not all doom and gloom in The Shire.

Cronulla chairman Dino Mezzatesta has defiantly declared the Sharks are ‘not going anywhere’ despite enduring one of the worst weeks in the club’s history.

The Sharks were this week whacked with an $800,000 fine while coach Shane Flanagan is set to be deregistered by the NRL for allegedly violating the terms of his 2014 peptides ban.

But as reported by Sporting News Australia’s NRL Leaks the Sharks submitted solvency paperwork to the NRL on Friday to prove their short-term financial stability.

The NRL has accepted the Sharks’ financial model, quelling fears the embattled 2016 premiers could be forced to relocate to Perth.

And in further positive news for Sharks fans News Limited on Sunday reported Cronulla are set to receive a cash injection of $9 million before the start of the 2019 NRL campaign.

The much-needed funds will come from the multi-million dollar property development on land adjacent to Shark Park.

According to reports Cronulla recorded a loss in excess of $3 million in 2018.

After a series of off-field controversies, including remarks made by Andrew Fifita and Josh Dugan during a mid-season podcast, the Sharks are yet to secure any sponsors for 2019.

The Sharks are also nervously awaiting the completion of a salary-cap investigation after new CEO Barry Russell self-reported suspicious activity relating to the 2015 season.

That investigation uncovered more than 50 emails sent from Flanagan to club officials during his 12-month suspension in 2014, leading to his proposed deregistration this week.

But despite the constant cloud of controversies Mezzatesta told the Sunday Telegraph the ‘resilient’ Sharks will survive and thrive for several years to come.
