Still sticking to your little conspiracy that it's just some fix to suit a fairy tale narrative

What is wrong with you guys
I often wonder if people in this forum would actually say these things to sharks fans in real life. Are they that miserable in their own lives that it would help them feel better.

I’m not so sure why so much hate towards the sharks, Gavin Miller, and E.T were some of my favourites to watch in the 80s and 90s, I think the impression from a lot of people is clubs like sharks,Souths and cowboys are like little brat cousins to the big boys in dragons, roosters and broncos. Unlike the dragons they can at least say they have never sold out and have a longer history in the competition than the merged club.

They will never have the glamour and marketability of their bigger cousin, and therefore the league tries to give them a helping hand by handing out a premiership, or special treatment to certain players, to make them and their fans feel special.

You earn respect by achieving greatness on your own, not by handouts.

Teams like manly and the storm may not be liked by many people, but that is because of success and arrogance, they have constantly cheated the comp in many ways, but if their own fans think there is nothing wrong with that, then that is their right, just like it is the right of cowboys,Souths and sharks fans to feel that they won their premierships on their own accord without outside influence.

Manly have financial troubles?

Haven’t seen much about that.
Mustn't look very hard.

This is from a google search and only in the last twelve months:

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/hi...-to-buy-manly-sea-eagles-20180503-p4zd8b.html

Did you not notice Barrett bitching and moaning all year about a lack of resources? Endless stories in the last 10 years about how they work out of demountables? Ongoing wars with Warringah Council about Brookvale? Difficulty obtaining/keeping/renewing some sponsors (albeit not a unique issue to Manly)?

It was funny to hear Penn talk about how the demountables must really be great considering they won a few GFs from there. Logic.

What i think would kill Brooky fastest would be the opposition teams refusing to play there until the facities are up to standard. The grass is dangerous and the changerooms are 3rd world. Im actually surprised this hasnt happened yet

Nearly did a couple of years back. All games had to be moved away from there at all levels for a month or so from memory. Only a matter of time IMO

Oh, I see. I'm sorry for your loss.

Would think you'd have some understanding on losing your team. If your dog dies do you hope everyone else's does too?

Im clever enough to know that 12 Sydney teams was too many. I love having a local team, but i love the game more. Id rather suffer the Dragons than see my team be the cause of the NRLs decline. I could still watch my team im the lower grades, Ive got rep teams i love and I have a definite soft spot for the Knights (basically my Steelers to the North).

Life moves on, worse things can happen.

I dont have a problem with the Sharks, I have a problem with a team in Cronulla. There are 8 other teams in spitting distance, while other areas get nothing at all. I want to see the Sharks brand live on, just in a location that actually adds value to the game.

This idea that "EVERY Sydney suburb needs its own team" is a dead weight holding the game back in Australia.

Seriously, considering the amount of money these clubs put into players, it is amazing they are willing to risk injuries there.

That would be a good look for a sport that claims to be the toughest in the world.

We should subject players to sub-par conditions because we claim the game is tough?

That's a woeful, woeful position to take.

It's just part of outdoor sport. Happens from under 6s to first grade. Tough people learn to deal with it. Whiners complain.

It's a workplace, as elite sportspeople they have the right to expect the conditions to be safe.

A construction site will generally shut down (or at least partially close) if there is a dangerous hazard that could endager the safety of employees, a first grade rugby league ground (or even a reserve grade one for that matter) shouldn't be any different.

Well they shouldn't be tackled at all if they expect to be safe.

I don't know if you've noticed but it's an inherently dangerous activity. That's why the players are lauded as being tough and resilient. That's the appeal. That's the life of a sportsmen. It's what tough and extreme sports people do. They push harder than the average Joe on a work site or in an office. That's the product. That's the occupation.
