okay i just watched it. i dont think i've ever seen someone that angry and hurt on a footy field before. poor Mickey. the whole Paea family are lovely Christian boys too so whatever Gallen said it musta been really bad

Dean Widders after Fletcher's racial slur

never seen Widders get upset at anything till then. you knew something had been said

nope i couldnt hear anything but u can definitely hear Mickey blowing up and saying everything it says in that article. from the look on his face even u can see whatever happened was pretty bad.

fair enough.

It surprises me though many in the thread are calling for action without any evidence. Im pretty sure a racial abuse allegation would go straight to a hearing , the reason the NRL cant act is becuase there isnt any evidence. Unless Mickey Paea is prepared to act nothing can be done.

that said i would support a big suspension even without paea's testimony if it could be proven.

Isn't it great for Cronulla to have a captain that has half a brain to realize how much the sharks have been through the last couple of weeks and can bring some credibility back to the club.

Hang on a minute :crazy::crazy::crazy:

yep thats what i thought too. Paea is really even tempered and never blows up so whatever Gallen said it musta been pretty upsetting.

i bet Gallen knows Paea is a pussycat too, he never woulda said it to Dell. he woulda taken his head off!

Gallen should be hung out to dry...

Instead this sh*t will be swept under the carpet and he'll be picked for SOO on monday, possibly as captain (he'll put in yet another dud rep performance as well)

Yep, very similar reactions actually.

Gallen is so lucky that Paea didn't take matters into his own hands on the field. He would have deadset murdered the cat .. if he could have caught up to Gallen, who I'm sure would have been running away as fast as he could in the opposite direction.

He proves himself time and time again to be the game's most unsportsmanlike player, and also the least ethical.

Dell couldnt knock the skin off a custard. Gallen would have no problems with that overweight old man.

Paea looked about 1 inch from ending Gallen's life though

Pfft. Racial allegations aren't like biting. Some players might fake being bitten (by biting themselves), but a player won't fake being racially abused in the heat of the moment.

I think the fact that Paea told Hornby he wanted to make a complaint (before deciding not to go on with it), combined with Paea's remarks picked up on the audio microphones, should be enough for the NRL to charge Gallen and have it go to the judiciary.

And then, even if Paea refused to testify, run the case on the basis of the evidence available. If Gallen gets off, so be it .. even though we all know he was guilty.

I mean, FFS, Gallen pretended he couldn't remember the incident post-match ... I bet he goes to bed tonight and wets his frilly knickers thinking about the look in Paea's eyes.

Gallen is your quintessential Shire redneck.. And before you get your southern cross tattoos in a knot, i lived in the shire up until my early 20s, both sides of the bridge and still hang there a lot. We all know the ones that I'm talking about.

It was definitely racism. You could tell how white Gallen went when he realised what had happened and potentially what could come out of it. He is lucky that Paea is probably too thoughtful for his own good and probably considered the ramifications (ie Origin for Gallen) and didn't pursue it.

Everyone says heat of the battle. But it's pretty obvious what kind of person you are in these heats of the battle. Gallen has shown who he is.

Just another string to his bow.

If Paea doesnt want to testify , what other evidence could be used?

No other dragons team mate is going to testify if Paea himself doesnt. So therefore any trial would be an absolute farce.

As i said though , if there was some video evidence i would go right ahead with a suspension.

Racial abuse is a low , low act.

Because refs love to keep aaking a player "do you want to make an official complaint?" repeatedly until they say no, and then the NRL does to old "well the victim doesn't want to go on with it so looks like it never happened" routine.

Paea said twice what gallen said to him to the refs. That in itself should be taken as an official complaint and enough to punish Gallen.

Gallen showed his true class in his interview with News Ltd when he blamed the incident on Paea..... the bloke just saved his career so he is laying the boot in. Typical Gallen cat act

And here I was thinking Gallen really led with example in that game.
Lost all respect for Gallen now, Paea should of ripped his head off, Gals lucky he said it to one of the nicer blokes.
