The Bulldogs lost Thurston because they gave him permission to negotiate with other clubs prior to the June 30 deadline and the Cowboys offered him a huge, long term deal. Anasta and Mason were off contract the following year..........Dogs said they would never allow a player to negotiate like that again because they got burnt. My heart still bleeds for them.

Thurston could potentially be better than A. Johns. I used to watch him run around in Flegg for the Dogs and thought this boy is special. Can't believe they let him negotiate with other clubs.

they really f**ked themselves up...they signed Sherwin to a 5 year deal, Anasta was on huge money and had to upgrade the bulk of their squad especially the 2004 team. Both Price and thurston had to be sacrifised and you know what happened in 2005 ;-)

The Dogs got what they deserved and it is a shame they are only now suffering for cheating the cap for so long......without cheating the cap they would never have assembled the squad they did, could never have signed Andrew Ryan when they were $2mil over the cap etc, etc.
They were forced to make some tough decisions, but still won the comp with a team they would not have been able to keep together had they not cheated.

We would not have made as many 'mistakes' if we had cheated....Jason Cayless, PJ Marsh etc would still be with us!! :-(

The Dogs won a premiership, its all about using the resources when you have them.

Ok then, lets sign 5 players on massive 4 year deals, pay them 50% on the cap (disclosed), and 50% undisclosed. Build a team that comes first, but gets stripped of all our points for the first season, yet we still get to keep the side for the duration of the contracts we have (illeagally) signed and win a pemiership in the remaining years before losing half of the players we illiegally signed or retained.....

Thats a real good way of using our (illegally) aquired resources.

Dogs cheated, simple as that.

Manly are quite literally merkins of the earth...they cannot develop a player on their own without picking the eyes of other clubs, they did manage to scab through the Penrith ranks and get a top centre, i think his name is Junior Ahio...they are scabs...literally.

what has happened to the 'great Noel Cleal' - the best at identifying talent in the land?

His job is secure at the Sea Eagles whilst Judas is there. Plenty was written about the "Noel Cleal Clause" at the time he signed with them last year.

as Gronk says he's only there for one reason and that's to keep sh*t for brains at bay.

Barney was signed by Crusher on the advice of his brother Les "Blossom" Cleal.
'Blossom' was coach at Tumbarumba at the time and Barney was from Tumba - bloody - rumba.

Well Im sure he'd still have a couple of connections at Parra so he probably is still identifying talent, from our backyard, ready to pilfer over to Moanly.

As for Feleti, lets just hope his attitude doesnt get the better of him. He is a fave of mine, but I think he has a dendency to believe his own hype. As long as he stays grounded he will be great for us and we may have a better chance of keeping him.
