Shut him down

I was wrong, I thought he was a fantastic signing after showing good signs the last couple of years at Cronulla

the season is gone, he isn’t the future, and he isn’t interested in the present. Put the young fella Volkman in there and start building

he won’t run the ball, his kicking game is atrocious, that first 5 mins of the match was disgusting what his boot produced, 5th tackle options pathetic and he didn’t pass the ball once within 2 metres of contact, just shoveled it on to a player in a worse position, eg Rocco Berry on the last

He played in the 2011 GF, if he produces that effort in 2022 there isn’t any point carrying on

I got to see the Dolphins/Jets game today - Volkman/Asi played in the halves. Pick em both next week. That second half... they came out and went

Either Asi/CHT starting with Volkman getting a debut off the bench, or Asi in the centres and Volkman starting (going off not dropping CHT as a starting point as he appears to have played decently from the points thread). It's either that, blood Volkman against Penrith (f**k no), or wait and debut him against the Tigers in the homecoming game. Would give a little bit of hope if it's the last option, anyway.

I didn't see the Warriors game tonight (was at a bar up here with a few mates, but really just watched the canes/brumbies game), but sounds as though nothing changed with SJ. So goodbye mate. Earn your f**king jersey back, if you even want to play first grade again.

I’ve been over him for so long…

weird though, a few years ago he’d throw himself around in defence and wouldn’t take on the line in attack…. Now he offers literally nothing, although again weirdly yesterday he took some hit ups in our 20…. Go figure, I’d prefer engaging the line at the other end, but for someone with his experience I’m baffled he isn’t doing anything useful

he’s not alone, but others lack talent and/or experience

The Shaun Johnson career (despite playing a lot of rep footy) is a bit of a "what if" career. There is no coincidence that the Warriors worst periods were with him steering the ship (at least that is his role).
He played his most consistent footy as Cronulla....yet has come back to the Warriors as an older footballer who just does not appear to give a f**k.
I remember some people saying he'd be better than Benji.....bwhahaha! Warriors are definitely at that stage where they need to go a different direction with the spine. The blooding of these new guys will need to be done with care.....f**k blooding them in a game like last night for instance....that does not do much for a youngster either.

Warriors are in a shit place. I feel for them....they made some giant sacrifices for this comp and are sadly suffering dearly for it. I would not even object to giving this club extra cap space temporalily as a big thank you to them.

not buying the sacrifice line completely, they’ve been well paid and well looked after compared to many in NZ over the last two years, and the Storm had similar issues

and tbh f**k them on the money, they’ve given a truckload to Lodge for next year, and tbh why would any player in their right mind want to come to this shithouse atm (we’re not alone, I’d say same about Tigpies, Dogs and maybe Titans)

Sack him.
Been calling for it for weeks.
He was called a cancer when he left the club and senior players wanted him gone.
Then we get him back.
Shit kicks, shit passes, won't take on the line, lazy in defense at times.

I remember a few years ago we were all calling for him to be dropped before he went to the sharks. Sure, he offers experience but that counts for nothing if he's playing like crap.

He needs to be dropped. Volkman needs to start at 7. Brown wont though because he's a pussy.

yeah I find it harder to buy the away from home excuse when the majority of the squad are Aussie or have been Aussie based for many years

I think it’s really important to try to understand what SJ is being told he’s expected to do. To all us fans he’s totally failing, but last week Brown said he was happy with his previous two performances.

The solution seems simple to me. Give him a clear ultimatum. Start challenging the defensive line and cutting out the stupid errors next week or it’s your last week. You have 80 minutes to prove your worth. Then have the balls to follow through and drop him if he doesn’t meet those expectations.

But clearly nothing like this is happening. He continues playing poorly with zero visible consequences. Then other players look at his free pass and think they don’t need to give 100% either. The lack of effort then becomes a cancer through the club.

We need a coach with the balls to uphold a zero tolerance policy for lack of effort or inability to follow a game plan. But it’s probably too late now. It will take a change of leadership to build back up trust in order to get players back on board.

Perhaps the instructions are kick badly, don’t manage the game, try and stay under the radar

I’m a bit worried we’re
Hanging too much importance on one player here. He’s just one out of form player. Dropping him won’t fix the side, any more than signing him did.

Give Asi a run, he debuted against Penrith a couple years ago and was very impressive in a losing side, scored a nice so try I’m surprised he hasn’t got himself a regular gig somewhere since.

The trouble is though that in this side, he is ‘the’ player. He is the bloke that is looked upto by the young blokes, and leading by example. It won’t find anything immediately results wise, but the message gets sent that nobody is safe and it may wake some of the others up

I’ve seen Jake Trbojevic close to tears this season addressing the troops when they are getting flogged, even last night at 24-0 up he was laying down the law, that doesn’t come naturally to everyone, but that passion is what Shaun is meant to offer this group
