Sheens Bias - Lote in over Boyd

Tuqiri was the equal second best winger in the comp this year. The best was Uate. The other was Vatuvei. He needs to be there imo. What other backs are gonna take hit ups? Can't see Morris doing much of that. Boyd would do NONE of it.

Boyd was made to look better than he is by shrewd coaching by Bennett.

Tuqiri on the other hand is all class. Better in defence as a winger, and offers so much more in attack.

Honestly Tuqiri would be in the top 10 best wingers of all time IMO and the suggestion of bias is just plain insulting.

Also I think the reason Lote may have got the call up is because Sheens would have wanted Prince in the squad, but the selectors went with Cooper "kick it to Billy" Cronk.

Boyd was ordinary at best on the wing for the Broncos. For Qld he rides coat tails more or less. At fullback he goes well in a drilled side. Tuqiri is a sound choice for mine.

Maybe Sheens is still pissed off Boyd and the Dragons knocked him out of the finals.

You bias Tigers fans can try to convince me as much as you want, there is no way Tuqiri should be in this team, especially over Boyd. Shouldn't even be in the squad either.

I'm sure Farah will weasel his way in to the line up somehow before the end of the 4 Nations. I'd be watching out if I was Cooper Cronk..

u got to be kidding, when was the last time a tiger was selected to play for aus? when we won the premiership we didnt have 1 player selected, and this year we finished 3rd and still probley wont have anyone in the starting team

Joel Caine - Last year, Wrong and Wrong (unless you mean full strength line up in which case right).

Sheens by no means has been terribly biast or involved himself in terrible selections but he's certainly shown some favouritism to his own players in Farah and Tuqiri. Not that I hold it against him, when Bennett is selecting players like Carroll and Tate and Stuart's selecting players like Tupou I can forgive Sheens for giving Robbie a second chance in the green and gold.

Scott Prince played one test on the tour in 05. He was our only Australian rep from our premiership winning team. Don't forget aswell Farah played one or two last year.

What is a joke is they keep appointing current coaches. That is where the blame needs to be.

+ 1.

That is why the Menigna situation works so well - no club ties, no bias.

If Lote was not playing for the Tigers, is is very doubtful he would be starting this week.

Stop acting like Lote was the first choice winger. There had to be many injuries before he was considered, and I doubt Boyd would have started anyway if Hayne didn't get injured.

Agree with you regarding Bennett's coaching abilities by using Boyd to create the extra man in the Dragons backline however, it also shows Boyd's ability as a player to be able to adapt his game over the last two years as fullback.

On Sheens bias on selecting Lote. All previous Australian coaches have done it the past, he is the current coach and if the wants Lote to play as Sheens feels Loti will fit his coaching style so be it.

I have no real problem with picking specialists for their role. It makes sense. BUT...

Why wasn't Lote picked in the first place if Sheens was concerned with the lack of "specialists" in the team? If he was happy to play a fullback on the wing in Hayne, if he was consistent, there would be no problem in replacing Hayne with Boyd a member of the all conquering QLD team as a winger.

Fact remains, Lote will come in and do an excellent job as would have Boyd. I do feel for Darius as he deserves a Test jumper based on how he has played this season from where I sit. Whilst he wasn't going to unsurp Slater, Boyd on the wing as he has done so successfully for QLD wasn't going to weaken the team.

Good point The 18th Man. Maybe politics within the ARL. Sheens may have wanted Loti in the first place and was told no can do. Once Hayne was ruled out, Sheens may have got what he wanted.

I agree with you, Darius deserves a test jumper. Personally, I think the coach should be able to use his discretion of who he picks from the squad named.

Honestly, if the coach picked the squad on his own I would have no dramas, if he's the man running the side, he should be allowed to pick it, rather than being given a side that he may not want.

That shoudl only be the case if the coach has no ties to a club.
