Winning teams are happy teams and guess what, the troops are not happy in Tigertown.

When you are playing crap what do you do, blame the coach. If only they concentrated on the basic skills of the game, they might actually win a game and the place would be all smiles again, but that takes hard work, so lets take the easy option and blame the coach

Not 100% sold on Potter, but he has no chance at all if the players are white anting, so if I was him I would walk and than name and shame the ring leaders

Yeah that'll help pay the bills. Can he crash at your place after that heroic act?

Pretty much the entire boys club has left over the last 3-4 years (Benji, Beau, Gibbs, Fulton, etc) so I don't think that bringing Payten in as a coach would be as big a disaster as it would have been 2 years ago. However I am not a fan of coaches coaching a squad whom they played with, and of our current crop there is still plenty of players who Payten played with on a regular basis (Farah, Lawrence, Woods, Galloway, Richards, Halatau), so I kind of feel as though he'd be a bad choice right now. I am less and less confident in Potter with every passing week, and I don't think he will be renewed, however I don't think Payten should be put at the helm, and I have a sinking feeling that the players may have another whinge if they don't get there way.

It's a pity that the $$$ and pissing contest couldn't be put on hold for 24 hours in the name of tradition. I know that picking a best of team after just 15 years is a PR stunt or a junket, but surely if it is meant to mean anything at all, they invite Sheens.

Anyway who was named coach of the team? Lamb or potter?

no coach was named i believe, just a team of 17 players

Sheen's said he would resign if the club missed the 8 in 2012,they missed by a long way,he didn't resign so the club sacked him.
Now he is suing the club,of course he is not gonna be invited,I applaud the club for finally seeing what type of bloke our Tim is,supporters worked him out years ago..

Humpty Dumpty got us into this mess in the first place. Sheens was offered big money to go and coach Penrith, so he panics and offers Sheens a huge deal to stay with us. 12 months down the line he figures out the fraud that Sheens is and flicks him. He should have put the performance clauses in Sheens' contract when offering him that much, but he didn't (although maybe he was smart not to considering Sheens had a CEO sacked who dared to make him accountable for his performance).

The club has been a mess for a while now, I'm just thankful I got to see them win a premiership, because aside from 2010, we've never even been close. Mayer I think has done an admirable job cleaning up the mess, and getting the new generation of youngsters signed up, we just need to find the right coach for them on a shoestring budget.

If Payten is appointed it just proves a year of fragrant white anting can do the trick I guess

flagrant perhaps?

I don't think Potter would find it fragrant, if it were the case.

He'd be thinking it was more pungent than fragrant.

The Brian Smith report gave everyone from the strapper to our no1 player a free hit at the coach. So along with the white anting and the Smithy report Potts was on a hiding to nothing. Bloody amazing they won any games.

Plenty of crap goes on down at Manly off the field, but the boys deliver more often than not, our mob just constantly looks to blame everyone except themself

I hope you sack Potter, my team needs a coach for next year in SL and I'd have him there in a heartbeat!

No surprise, these articles about Potter have been around for 18 months. What's the players issues this time?

I work with the father of a Tigers first grader. They believe Potter has NFI on coaching strategy. They performed earlier because they listened more to the Assistants, particularly Kidwell who they think is an absolute gun. From what I hear blokes like Lulia and Brooks don't talk at all in the defensive line yet they're never pulled up on it by the coach. The assistant coach's also can't stand him.

The assistnt coach wanted his job when Sheens got the arse.

He's just got sour grapes.

More reason to keep the merkin out of the NRL coaching gig.

I used to think player power was always bad. But, despite players not reporting it as such, the Warriors players making sure Elliott was gone for McFadden was in hindsight a masterstroke. Sometimes poor boards or executive management teams appoint poor coaches. Not saying thats the case here, but if the player are genuinely as disgruntled as they are it may be worth asking what their concerns are rather than blinker off their concerns.

f**k me how many people in the real world have a boss who has a few short comings.

But we all go to work and get the job done

These pricks have to be professionals. Not whinging to your dad if a coach doesn't yell at some one

Mayer should tell the players that if Potter is flicked Payten won't be the new coach. See if they shut up or if they continue to carry on.

The buck stops with the head coach. Considering where the Tigers were from the start of 2014, I think it is an absolute miracle that

(a) the Wests Tigers are still in top eight contention this far into the season.
(b) they are playing with unbelievable skill when they click.

Every player Potter punted turned out to be the right call while every player Potter recruited also turned out to be the right call. If the newspaper reports are true, the tigers just are looking for a reason to sack him.

Surely it's bs? Surely Potter has something to do with getting an injury plagued team full of kids to the cusp of the 8? If they are stupid enough to punt him, I would hope Saints are smart enough to chase him hard.
