Yes, no or not sure?

Post your reasons why.

I don't think an Indigenous team should be included for one simple reason being we're ONE country, not a country divided by Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people.

Australia is Australia, all born here are represented and cheer for the Green and Gold.

The All-Star game I love, I really do, though leave it at that - the first game of the pre-season. An exhibition that will prosper in to one of the most anticipated games on the calendar.

Edit: Appologies, forgot to add the poll. If a Mod would be so kind, that would be appreciated.

No.

And David Gallop is an idiot for even making reference to this yesterday.

There are plenty of Indigenous players in the Kangaroos team.
As you have pointed out, we are one country of many differing backgrounds and cultures.
But at the end of the day we all live in Australia, and only one team should be representing our people (of all race and backgrounds) in a World Cup event.

Apologies, I didn't realise this idea had actually been talked about.

If so, it's further proof that Australians (or at least the current Australian administrators) should be as far away from the running of the international game as possible.

No.

Internationals rally all the people of one country behind a single team. This is the beauty and appeal of any international competition.

Unless I missed the fact that Indigenous ppl don't feel as part of the Australian nation.

Once you start messing around and teams that don't represent nations get involved, it loses it's original appeal. It would still be good Rugby League, but in internationals that's not the focus. For the best quality of the game there's the NRL / SL - where teams practice together all year, which is often more important for performance than talent on the pitch.

If they want it - yes.
Not our decision.
If they feel a need for their own side they should have one.
Any white fella who feels they have a right to tell the indiginous population what to do and how to think is being pretty arrogant, and that is the sort of attitude that actually makes them want to assert their independence.

Nice one Roop...

France could have France and the Catalonians in the WC..

NZ could include the Maoris..

Lebanon..??..They could have the Islamic team and then the Maronite Christians could put their hand up...

12 teams..??..14 teams..??..16 teams..??

No way, we could have a 24 team tourney...

Sorry Roops, I know this post'll p!ss you off and I hope you won't be too mean to me ;-) but putting a RLWC on is hard enough with the media and credibility issues, to have this idea would just give them a field day..

It would destroy the game..

Not a journalist in the country would have the balls to write an article against it, and if they did, no one would publish it.

Where is the country of ' Indigenous ' on the globe ?

Their Indigenous mummies may have spat them out, but Australia made them the footballers they are.

I like the idea of a team such as Indigenous All Stars playing against touring teams, or even they could do a tour against the Pacific Nations or even a match against a Combind Pacific side...

Agree.

And I think the idea of the Indigenous side vs the NRL all stars is fantastic.
They are representing the Indigenous people of this country of ours, against the best of the rest in the NRL.
It's a terrific idea, and I'm all for the Aboriginal people in Australia wanting to represent their people.
However at a world cup, it should purely be the best players from the country / nation being selected....not from a particular race within that country.

hm, i would have thought any indigenous population that feels they have the right to include themselves in a world cup even though they aren't a country would be pretty arrogant.

I think that is a bit much to be honest. I think you would find that the indigenous players would like a test jersey themselves. I think the current concept is the way to go, its outside of the normal representative farce, far enough away to avoid the politics, the autocrat coaches and all the other things that have plagued rep football over the last ten years. Id really like to see the indigenous guys get rewarded, be acknowledged without the rest of that sh*t putting itself ahead.

Personally, being from an aboriginal background, id much prefer to play for australia.
