Should they play the Tigers v Dragons at Telstra on Saturday Night
with the Eels v Cowboys being on Sunday at Aussie Stadium

Tigers v Dragons could sell out Telstra

Tigers vs Dragons won't sell out Telstra regardless of the bandwagoners probably 60k max if they are lucky, more likely 45-50k imho

I agree some neutrals may be in on it... but I don't think many. Admittedly this is second hand information... but only single seats are available in A areas, and especially down at the northern end you cannot get more than a few seats together.

I don't think 42000 people at the SFS is such a bad advertisment for the game. I couldn't see any more than 55-60k at Homebush.. and that's being generous.

Was this same arguement thrown around last year for the Panthers v Bulldogs game?

At the end of the day both clubs are going to have to agree, and I don't think we will.

Yes I just heard. Good news, lets get on with it.

It's going to be mostly St George fans, a privelidge we have earned. If the Tigers are good enough to overcome a hostile atmosphere like this... then good luck to them

This is why rugby league will never move forward. Attitudes such as "we won't get home ground advantage" make me sick.

It's a selfish attitude. I'm a rugby league supporter first and foremost - without rugby league there'd be no Penrith. without rugby league there'd be no St George Illawarra.

In my eyes rugby league comes first then my club. Unfortunately, as always, people within our game are selfish.

The more people that get to a game the better.

I'm not really fussed either way but now that the decision has been made it's time to move on

and the Tigers fans had ample chances to buy tickets they would've known at the same time the Dragons did that they'd be playing in the SAturday Night game if they beat the Broncos.

How the hell can we buy tickets when we didn't even know we'd be playing?

In any case, the NRL is going to lose thousands of dollars of income and alot of people won't get to see their team play.

The NRL couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery, first they have Melbourne playing North Queensland in Sydney and now this. There really is no good reason why these games should not be switched, both stadiums are basically neutral venues anyway for two Sydney teams.
Surely they could just allow anyone who bought their ticket prior to the ground switch an offer of a refund? I doubt there would be many takers anyway.

I can think of several good reasons.

1. The contractual arrangements that lock the NRL into playing the games as is.
2. The convenience of those fans who have already bought tickets/made plans on the perfectly fair assumption that the game will be played at Aussie Stadium.
3. The expectations of stadium members and corporate costumers.

Now, whenever they negotiate a new deal concerning finals stadiums they certainly should allow for more flexibility in the arrangements. But as it exists it is not practical to change the venue.

what a f**k up

they would get 70k to this game

very disappointing. The NRL let the fans down again. I know id be sh*tted off if i was a season ticket holder but couldnt get a ticket on sat night because the bandwagoners had sold the venue out

f**king disgrace

Thousands of unhappy customers. Thats the bottom line. It's a PR disaster for the NRL.

Fans: Hey Mr. Gallop, If you go to work at Homebush on Saturday, instead of Paddington, I'll give you $1,000,000!!

Gallop: Oh, no thats not possible. I've already done my paperwork for that day, and besides it would mean another trip to the bank.

3. A lot of St George fans will testify to the SFS being our home ground in September.. with many memorable moments having taken place there.

But it's not their home ground... they have 2 home grounds and neither of them are anywhere NEAR the SFS, the SFS is the home ground of Souths and the Roosters, both area's of which are actually close to the ground whereas st George is not. Also, St George haven't actually won the premiership while the SFS has been in existance... so those impressive victories have arguably, and quite correctly, also been accompanied by some season ending losses...

Botton line, the SFS is no where NEAR St George's home and the game should be played where it can fit the most fans.

if i was in charge of parra and was asked to move by the nrl i would definatly say no. because im sure they would love to have a run on the feild before the grand final (if they make it)

As if the Dragons would lose a game just because they were playing at the Tigers "home ground"? If the NRL stays firm in deciding that a half empty Telstra Stadium and thousands of fans missing out on going to the semi at Aussie is the way to go, they're kidding themselves. The jingle should be "That's my team!- But only when the NRL lets me say it!"

Scumulla fans at the moment can only cheer against the mighty Dragons. Just wait till next year till you win two trials so you can proclaim to be the premiership favourites again.

What if Covell was playing? Surely you'd need the biggest stadium possible to fit all his fans in.

If the Broncos had won today, would anyone had been calling for a change of venue?? No, I don't be thinking so .. so why, all of a sudden, is this push for a change of venue??

Why, 2 Sydney teams, that's why.
Thats why people are suggesting Parra v Cowboys be moved to Aussie, as the interest form 1 of the teams supporter bases wouldn't be quite as high

If the Broncos had of won, how many supporters do you suppose would've come down for the game? Saints would be cheering as thier would be bugger all Broncos fans thier.

Now lets look at something - how bout in future they not sell the tickets to week 3 until after week 2 has been played, and they sought out who's playing where. Thereby giving all fans an equal oppurtinuty to purchase tickets.

Yeh switch it! The bigger the crowd the better. This is a great season for crowds the NRL should capitalise on it

If someone can guarantee me, and anyone else who has booked early to get the position they want, a seat in the same relative row and position at Telstra I'm all for it. I can't see that happening, imagine how sooky the Wastes fans will get if they didn't reset the seating allocation too.
