Should the Eels sign K. Hunt?

the only bigger joke is playing Hunt at 5/8th.

the guys a fullback and we already have a better one in Jarryd Hayne.

i heard that parra had put a bid in for hunt
to play him at 6 next year. he practically plays a ball playing
role at brisbane nyways. so if he got use to makin more
tackles. he could get the job done.

Where did you hear it? Same place that said we're after Poore?

I doubt we'd be after him, seeing as he'd cost a pretty penny.

Good player, but what we really need are forwards.

Besides, I honestly think Kelly and Keating will make a good halves combination. Mortimer...He's good, but he's not a freak like AK and KK imo.

yeah that is true our forwood pack is pretty weak compared to other teams IMO i dnt think kelly is ready for FG juz yet. i dnt believe dan mortimer is even ready. but we are getten rushed to get these payers on the park bcoz we have no other options.
it happened with michael witt in 03 he played well then in 04 played rather dismal and again in 05 with smith he played great that year but then in 06 07 08 he was shocking.

I don't thin Kelly is ready for First Grade yet either. And it depends on what happens with his contract.

But assuming he is re-signed, I wouldn't put it past him to debut some time next year.

He scored 5 tries when he played for Wenworthville. He scored 2 tries and set up a few others against Cronulla. There's only so long you can ignore that sort of form imo.

If he re-signs and keeps improving I am confident he'll be thereabouts comes 2010.

Only because our forward pack has been awful.

In 2007 he had a great season, and our pack was pretty decent.

This year, it's rubbish, and consequently our backs look stale.

I can lol.

I used to play a little back in the day (5 years ago). I was a prop. And as my coach used to say - if the engine room isn't pumping and churning out the kilowatts, the vehicle won't be able to move. If it doesn't move, how can you expect the steering wheel to function?

To put it in footy terms: if the pack can't make metres and then keep the ruck tight in defence, the team can't work well. If the pack can't control the ruck in attack and defence, how can the halves do anything worthwhile?

We have a slight crisis in the halves, what with Keating and Mateo out injured indefinitely. But our big, big problem at the moment is our forwards, and for a number of reasons:

(1) they don't play like a pack; good teams have a forward pack that tackle in groups, eagerly take the next hit-up and just generally act together

(2) they are not controlling the ruck. In attack, they are not making enough metres. In defence they are being bullied into letting the opposition dictate terms.

(3) there is no aggression. Big Benny Smith is a monster of a man, but doesn't play with aggression. Meanwhile PJ Marsh was knee-high to a grasshopper and smashed blokes twice his size.

i know that our forwood pack isnt goin so well
there is no aggression in wat we do and we're getten
manhandled everytime we have the ball. but every set we juz send it to the forwoods to do one up stuff KK, robson, mortimer who eva is playn 7
should step and say ay if we want sumfin to happen then give me the ball
so at the same time our backs are leaving our forwoods out to dry.

Not true. Jarryd Hayne made a record last week with meters gained and Eric Grothe always hits the ball up well and makes plenty of meters. Our outside backs have been taking far to much preasure off our fowards if anything.

Karmichael Hunt would be the ideal player for us. I think he would do ok at halfback to be honest. He is a future captain of what ever club he goes to. He would do well. Just not the position we need. Unless of course people are willing to try Jarryd Hayne at five eight again.
