Sideline conversions

So many people defend Benji's poor goal kicking with the fact Tigers score so many tries out wide. Luke Burt slotted both his side line conversions tonight - it's not only Hazem doing it. I don't think Soward missed one either, and not all were sitters. Wouldn't that be handy.

Thurston 4/4 including slotting them from the sideline, Parker 5/6 including a pressure kick from the sideline...

We need an 80% kicker

Moltzen got 4/7 at Gosford

Which is not good enough. AN 80% kicker could be the difference for an extra 6 or so competition points, which can be the difference between top 8 and another year of failure.

Another reason I hope we have the money to chase Inu.

If the Gosford game is anything to go by, Moltzen shouldn't even be our third or fourth string kicker.

I hope Benji can improve, I don't think he is far off.

In saying that can't Lote kick goals too? And Lawrence?

Never mind Inu's kicking. I watched the Dogs, Eels semi again yesterday - the bloke is an out and out freak of nature.

Please dont think I find that acceptable, I dont.

I'm also very very worried about our general play kicking with the new downtown rule

I've only heard one muppet defwnd it because of that.....

In thruth its the ones 10 -15 meters either side of the goal posts he has the most trouble with

Inu would be a good addition, gun kicker + he's just a great back altogether. Hard to believe he can't get a run in the Eels side. He's way better than Burt.

Ennis is kicking at 0% this year (0/4)! Surely Benji can better that?!

Ennis lost the dogs a game by 4 points that they would have won by 4 points with El Masri. Let's see how long they let those stats work against them without doing something about it...like we have done for the past few years.

It's not good enough in the modern game. The Dogs will suffer this year, losing alot of these games that El-Masri would have won for them.

And before El-Masri, they had Halligan. 2 players that at the time of thier retirement were the record holders for points scored in thier careers.

Will be interesting to see how they go now that they dont have a 80% kicker. Just a little side note to this. I found this article regarding Ennis doing the goal kicking at Belmore

For 16 straight years, rugby league's top goal kickers have been wearing Bulldogs colours.
Daryl Halligan began at Belmore in 1994 and booted the ball through the posts so often he was considered by many as the best ever.
Then when he retired in 2000, Hazem El Masri was thrown the tee, and before his retirement last year, 'El Magic' made short work of virtually every goal-kicking record in the game.
Securing the extra two points after a try or a penalty kick has been assumed at the Bulldogs for the best part of two decades, but now the Halligan-El Masri dynasty is over.
Hooker, Michael Ennis is first in line to take over duties this season and can't wait for the challenge.
Figuratively speaking, Ennis has a huge pair of boots to fill, after El Masri last year broke the NRL's all-time point-scoring record.
But Ennis, who has already kicked more than 100 goals in his first grade career at the Knights, Dragons, Broncos and Bulldogs, doesn't believe his job comes with any added expectations.
"A lot of people ask me about the pressures that are coming on the back of the Halligan, El Masri era, but to me it's just something where I'll enjoy the challenge and embrace it," Ennis said.
"I'll continue to work hard and see how I go and it's something I'm looking forward to more than anything.
"Hopefully with trials around the corner in a few weeks I can put a few over. I think it's fortunate that I've got that base of kicking regularly at St George and then obviously in Brisbane when I was on the field.
"Hazem was a wonderful goal kicker and certainly just being a spectator in rugby league, I used to enjoy watching him kick his goals from everywhere, as did Halligan.
"It's nice being able to sit back and work with those guys but at the end of the day it's about me being comfortable in the routines that I've got and I'm pretty sure I've got that in place. Hopefully I can have a good year with the boot."
Ennis said he enjoys the challenge and the "mental break" goal kicking offers within a game.
Halligan, who is the goal-kicking coach for Ennis and Bulldogs' back-ups Bryson Goodwin and Steve Turner, believes the NSW Origin hooker is ready for the job.
"The thing with Mick is he actually wants to do it. Mick being Mick, he probably wanted to kick while Hazem was still there as well ... so that's a good attribute to have," Halligan told AAP.
"Bryson has kicked for the Kiwis as well, so certainly while it's a void to fill, there's plenty of good candidates to do it."

Yes, there will be added pressure, because the dogs are used to turning 4 into 6 probably 8 times out of 10. If his confidance goes down in one area, then it could well effect his overall game.

We need to secure Lawrence before worrying about signing anybody else.

Agree he is a priority, but surely we can focus on several things at once?
Spot on DanOz,we now have Humphreys running the show,he seems a very smart operator, just hope Tim lets him do his job properly.
