Silly Season 2025/26

Reports have Payne Haas telling his teammates this is his final season in Brisbane before moving to Souths

Broncos have since confirmed this info is correct
Bizarre one aye. The personal connections being reported must be pretty compelling cos everything else seemed well in favour of staying.

Family situation is well documented so upending all that wont be a small thing, some reports are saying he even signed for similar money (?), and probably the biggest thing... Bronc's are far, far better title prospects for the next few years with Walsh, Mam, Carrigan and Pezet all locked in till 27-28. Souths are an injury prone therapy ward by comparison.

Be interesting to see what else comes out over the next few weeks. For starters Buzz will probably find a way to blame Madge for it all.

All these journos that rate themselves so highly and know everything, insiders at every club getting the good oil, and not one person saw this announcement about Haas coming

What I now find amusing is all the inside info they have about exactly what went down haha

Yea man, good work by everyone who stitched it all together on the quiet.

AFB to the Sharks and Fish to us were similarly undercover weren’t they.

Makes you wonder how many other rumours that amounted to nothing were actually genuine moves that got killed off only cos someone couldn’t keep their mouth shut and spilled too early.

I'm astonished that Bunty has lost weight to be 115kg, and is heavier than Royce Hunt. He has never had the frame of a really big prop. Just suggests he's been playing well above his ideal weight.
Yeah I'm a week behind here, but I'm gonna be cynical too. Maybe he isn't at Penrose for life because he's been on the kebabs and sushi. I don't rate these 'ripped and ready at a new club' articles because it suggests they were coasting in the old one. Ice Papali'i was the same

Kent saying that Haas initiated contact with Souths and told them all they had to do was match the Broncos offer and he was there

Rumour mill saying Brisbane now targeting Mitch Barnett to replace him, not sure if that would be the case with Barnett entering mid 30z

Journos have looked at top ten props off contract and contacted agents.

Reynolds also denying rumours Madge's intensity played a part in his leaving. Smells like Buzz pushing buttons from his retirement home lol

Ha yeah I reckon winning a premiership would have caused a fallout between Haas and Madge.

Journos have no idea. Maybe Haas didn't want to work that hard again? Maybe he wants to play with Fifita, Reynolds and co? He's going to Sydney, surely that's part of the puzzle?

Not sure I could do that one, never really enjoy listening to Cam George talk
I listened to it all, I think if you listened to it and could ignore it was Cam George, it's actually pretty good. The stuff about COVID and the turmoil they went through there, especially. But yeah I'm not the biggest fan. I imagine he's listened to it himself 10 or so times. He does seem to love Cameron George, does Cameron George

I'd like them to get Stacey on the pod. I'd like to hear more from him about who he is as a coach, the Mick Watson/Anderson years, and so on
