Copeland should have won his position in the Australian first XI with this effort. Or I f*cking hope so or otherwise problems still exist within the selection process.
Unfortunately those problems will continue to exist until after this tour concludes

Copeland>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shittle. It weill be good to have someone in the team who can bowl line and length and actually build pressure.

Who are our selectors? I know Clarke, Nielsen and Chappell are there, do we still have Hilditch and co?

Copelands wickets were 5 of the top 6 too.

He must be in the Test XI, simply must.

Siddle will be picked, you can bet your life on it.

Form has never been a prerequisite for picking our bowlers.

Then again, new selectors :-k

Sri Lanka Board XI all out for 258 with Chandimal top scoring with 59 runs.

For the Australians Copeland was an obvious stand out taking 5 for 47 off 20. Harris and Beer were the other stand outs with two wickets a piece.

Australia are currently batting with Hughes (24*) and Khawaja (2*) opening.

I've been saying since before the Ashes you just had to give Copeland a go and he'd perform. Whilst he didn't get any in his first spell it was pretty telling that once he went off after his 2nd and 3rd spells that the Lankans put on partnerships. Clarke had obviously seen enough of Copes once he got to 5-fer and the last wicket was able to make the score respectable. 20 overs would just be a warm up for Trent so he could easily have taken a huge haul if he'd been allowed to keep bowling. (not that I disagree with taking him off in a meaningless match)

Copeland and Harris when fit MUST be our new ball attack they just compliment each other so well and are the guys most likely to take wickets. Just need Dougy to carve up the shield to put pressure on Notch and frankly Siddle can go in the glass box marked "break glass in case of extreme (I mean really dire, like the best 5 quicks in the country are injured) emergency".

Gee Hughes could be something special. He's been in great form since the Ashes. World class potential. He'll be our opener for the next 10 years.

100 partnership Uzi and Hughes. Copes has done the right thing, now we just need Khawaja to make a big one and make sure that hack Marsh stays in the shield where he belongs.
