The great thing about this game is that the real quality has risen to the challenge and the dregs have sunk. Hughes, Uzi, Harris and Copeland have all stood up and inked their names on the team sheet. Siddle and Marsh, well they are Siddle and Marsh. Just need to give Beer and Lyon a good long bowl to see which one should play at Galle now.

I think we're rooted either way in the spin department. I look at those two and am reminded of Ashley Giles and Robert Croft. With the exception that Giles and Croft were handy batsmen.

Well obviously it would be better if SOK was there, but if Johnson can at least hit the rolled bit and if Pup can chip in with some handy overs then our attack should be good enough to get the job done.

I've been pretty confident about the talent we have available, we just have to select the best of it. After today it looks like we might actually have close to our strongest side on the paddock in Galle. I think we'll do quite well.

SOK is the ideal spinner really, if he doesn't contribute with the ball he can contribute with the bat.

No Katich, no Dougy and no SOK

so we are about 30% short from having our strongest side out there for the 1st test

So you would think Copeland and Uzi will have done enough, so whats the bet Shittle and Marsh play the first test????

Khawaja's been in poor form since he got injured in January, so it's nice to see him have a decent knock today. I agree he's an excellent long term prospect, hopefully gets a decent run

really really good to see Clarke in form, his and punters lack of form killed us last year... Would love to see Khawaja at 4 and Clarke at 5 but doubt that will happen.

That would be ideal, his talent is wasted at 6 and we need guys that can convert into big 100s.

If those two twats played there would be a riot. Seriously the whole theme of Argus was rewarding performance. Shittle and Marsh's FC records aren't in the same quality continent as Copes and Uzi and given the chance to go head to head the quality shone through as brightly as the mediocrity crashed and burned. CA know that they have pissed off their loyalest fans with the selection shit of the past few years and they are trying to sell this summer now. Selecting those two would torpedo everything they have said they were going to change. Won't happen, even with dumbf**ks like Chappell and Nielsen in the selection room.

I would love to see Uzi play up the order and open, Maddinson is probably the type of player who in 2 or 3 years can take the mantle and open with Phil but I think Watson needs to move down to 4 so he can bowl a lot more if required.

In SL I doubt Watson will need to bowl much if they go in with 3 quicks (so Uzi at 6 for this test series IMO) but then against SA I would love to see Uzi go up the order esp considering Watson will bowl a lot more in SA then he wil in SL.

Hussey and Haddin are two that need to perform, if they fail this series then time to look at new players.

Waste of time letting the tail bat frankly. Don't know what Pup was trying to achieve there. Seeing Beer and Lyon bowl is far more important than watching them bat.
