This is craps news.

sure is. so why is the FBI doing the bidding of the American casinos who have lost so much due to internet poker? who is pulling the strings? Quigs alluded to a possible culprit and we all know who turned some sh*thole in the desert into a mafia controlled gambling mecca. Is there a connection?

US law prohibits US financial institutions from knowingly accepting payments for online gambling made through credit cards, electronic funds transfers and checks.
The US ban on Internet gambling has been challenged as an unfair trade restriction at the World Trade Organization and some lawmakers are seeking to have online gambling legalized

Australian internet whiz Daniel Tzvetkoff, who has become a prized FBI informant in a bid to avoid a 75 year jail sentence in the US, may have brought down the multi-billion dollar American online poker industry

As a poker player this is massive news...i just competed in the ANZPT at Star City and this was the major talking point. Even though the websites are still running for non US players, there was this one guy who claimed to be in the know that said these 3 websites will be shutdown by monday.

I would be advising any people out there that have money in their accounts to withdraw immediately...i just took out my last 8k from pokerstars but im not having to much luck with fulltilt

If you blokes that play the online gambling are looking for somebody to look after your unwanted cash when these sites go down, I'll put my hand up and do it for you.

yep cools - quite an easy choice for this black duck

there was something hanging over this mobs head when they signed on as a sponsor originally, cant recall what it was, but there was awareness of something not right

The issue was whether or not the sponsorship was in breach of the law. Apparently gambling websites have certain restrictions on them in terms of advertising (Casinos don't though, go figure). Our sponsor is the free poker arm of the company that's designed to entice people into signing up to the paid poker site.

Not sure how affected it would be by this.

Thing is you only need to put in a small % to receive a substantial amount of coin. I'm in front by a long way but even if I wasnt I wouldnt have thrown that munch down the sink either.

Apart from the money laundering issues, it is illegel in the US for anyone within the US to bet / gamble outside of the US. A yank can't call a betting agent in the Caman Islands to place a bet on anything. With online poker though it must be hard to prove where the gambling is taking place, so they follow the money, if it turns up in Peru than they have broken the law.

Gambling in the US is a huge earner for the govt so they will do anything to keep the money there.

Edit: Started a Pokerstars acc about a month ago to :(
