cayless in the 2nd row was absolutely awesome till he broke his arm again.

he could have played 60 mins a game. that's why it's a bit of a shame if he goes back into front row... coz generally props are interchanged every 20 mins which means he'll probably only be on the field half the game.

there is no reason why Hindmarsh Cayless and Morrison cant all work together in the back row.

He has always impressed me on the 2nd row but as a prop he was always able to create 2nd phase play on a more susbstantial basis. I also dont think he will be there because Hindy, Morrison and Wagon are my expected backrow. With Robinson and Cayless starting in the front row.

Cayless averaged 2.9 offloads a game this season playing in the second row compaired to 0.5 a game last season playing prop.

I just dont see any power in that forward pack.

so i guess that means BS is gonna play wagon as lock.

11 - hindy
12 - morrison

with our frontrow being a selection from
cayless, vella, cannings, stringer, robinson

looks good to me. i'd rather morrison play lock tho, with hindy and cayless remaining 2nd row partners.. but i guess wagon's defence is that good.

gee you're on the money today, fridge! Despite constant criticism, Wags does not deserve to be dropped as he is a rock in defence and we would sorely miss him. I can't count the amount of times someone rushed up from the defensive line to smash the opposition, followed by:

"Bloody great tackle! Who the hell was that?.................ha, who else but Wags!"

Also, with 2 80-minute second rowers, that leaves a possible 5 prop rotation, and so all your list could be in the 17.

Any what happens to Widders?

If you ever wanted an ace up your sleeve, you couldn't go past this bloke! But then again, we do have a possible vacancy in the centres.

Wags needs to be there, all them silly ppl saying Morrison to lock to accomodate Cayless in the 2nd row are well stupid IMO. Wagon is a leader, a great defender and once did have a complete game. Look for im to have his moments in 05 with it being contrat year.

I can understand you objections but i would hardly call it a silly idea. Cayless played all his games this season at second row and Morrison is very experianced at lock. Sure i Smith picks Morrison in the 12 and Wagon at 13 then i am not going to spit the dummy. I just think it is a very realistic option that should be tried in the trails.

Wags needs to be there

Who said he wasn't going to be there? I think he is a very good player but i would like to see him play centre untill Parra can develop a suitable replacement. Burt in the centres is a defencive no no.

Great!!! i guess we can only rely on these guys once their paycheck is under threat. Hindmarsh has 3 - 4 left and he gives it everything he's got every game. I guess we will need to sign Wagon and Vella to 1 year contracts.

I totally agree with 1 year contracts being signed and then resigned before the June 30 deadlines.

both Wags and Vella are approaching the crossroads of their respective careers and are both looking to make a massive impact to not only the team but the comp in general.

They both face two hurdles, to regain the form of a few years ago to maintain the same pay packett for the 2006 season and a number of players established stars and upcoming youngsters who are vying for the positions that both those blokes have held without a minimum of fuss for about 5 seasons.

Just with Widders, I used him as an impact player of the bench, someone to use when the forwards. He's good out wide, but close to the line "Dam he's dangerous, I think most his tries this year were scored close to the line.

Widders will always be my first choice on the bench. Such speed for his size and also quite agile.

Wagon will be at lock and i expect Cayless to go back to the front row, which is what i have thought for soem time

it should be something like......

13. Wagon
12. Morrison
11. Hindmarsh
10.
9. Riddell
8. Cayless (c)

I'm guessing Vella in 10 but there could be a surprise and we might seem him used off the bench to increase his impact and conserve his energy, so Cannings, Stringer or Tsoulos could go up to start??

just a thought???? "probable second row partner for Morrison being Hindmarsh"

wonder if dear old Smithy is considering moving Hindy to lock?????

Can't say that I would mind Hindy being used in the 13 jersey.....

Vella off the bench would be more than lovely, but don't forget Chad Robinson as a likely choice to start at prop or, if your assumption proves correct, in the second row.....

i wouldn't mind it either Colonlel,

and BS has mentioned it or implied it in the past and it would certainly provide extra room in the forwards to accomodate all these bloody front rowers that we have running around ;-) and would maybe mean that Cayless would stay in the second row???

however, it would of course mean that wags misses out and would be either benched or maybe revert to the centres or dare i say it......5/8!!!!!!!!!1

none of this may happen, but its just a thought and he could easily play at lock, even though he is the ebsts econd-rower in the world????

and i haven't forgotten Robinson, but i do see him pencilled in at #16 or 17 and i really think that Cannings needs to start and maybe have Vella off the bench

I'm not sure about Cannings just yet. I like his agression but I think he isn't a starter yet. I am hoping that Paul Stringer is fit to start the season. If he is I believe he should start alongside Cayless in the front row...

yeah maybe, and i like Stringer believe me, it's just his injury concerns that worry me????

and don't underestimate Cannings.....until his injury he was beginning to start ploughing or bulldozing along in every hit up ala Shane Webcke and Petro for the Broncos, which is just what we need up front, even though when fit Stringer can do the same???? ;-)

Why have Hindmarsh at Lock when we got Morrison?

Stringer, Vella, Cannings, Robinson and Tsoulos on the top of their games is a pretty good front row rotation.

I like Robinson, i think his good front on defence along with Riddell's will give us plenty of Dominate tackles in the opening 20.

I think this is Widders last year at the club. As great a bloke Widders is, Afasamaga is just way to good to let go. He is just so physical and strong at such a young age. Give him a few seasons in first grade and may i say we might have the new Ruban Wiki in our side.
