I want Widders as an EEL for life. Great player and way way to good to let go.

As good a bloke, clubman and player he is for the club Dean unfortunatly falls in the bracket of 1 year at a time, obviously because of his natural size he has to work harder than any other player to get to his fitness at an appropriate level for NRL.

I want him an eel for life on a 1 year contract basis. He has a weight problem but Smithy loves getting players like that. I think its a challenge for him. Maybe why Smithy was intrested in Craigie.

Why have Hindmarsh at Lock when we got Morrison?

Stringer, Vella, Cannings, Robinson and Tsoulos on the top of their games is a pretty good front row rotation.

I like Robinson, i think his good front on defence along with Riddell's will give us plenty of Dominate tackles in the opening 20.

I think this is Widders last year at the club. As great a bloke Widders is, Afasamaga is just way to good to let go. He is just so physical and strong at such a young age. Give him a few seasons in first grade and may i say we might have the new Ruban Wiki in our side.

Don't get me wrong, Robbo will be an invaluable conrtibutor to our team week in and week out (I. Hindmarsh like). But his most valuable contribution could very well be the information he brings with him.... ;-)

Hindmarsh has played a little bit of lock and there isn't a hell of a lot of difference really between the two positions.

Stringer (if fit) could be very good to start with then after 15 mins bring in Vella it could get Vella back to his best not being on for the opening 15-20 mins of the game.

Vella is 100 times better off the bench. I think he will take his place there with Cayless and Robbo our starting props.
8 Cayless
10 Robbinson

14 Utility ???Marsh/Smith/Mateo???
15 Widders
16 Vella
17 Stringer

Widders can also be considered a work horse in defence too. Many a times last year, he had a high tackle count even considering he was off the bench.

Hurri, I don't think Burt off the bench is a good idea. He's fast but he's not that elusive. He has to play 6 or 1 to be able to rove in attack. But I don't see that happenning.

I would still go for a pack that will keep the forward momentum going and then let the likes of Marsh, Morris, Riddell, Mckinnon and possibly petersen to scamper around from the forward momentum created by Cannings, Hindy, Cayless, Tsoulous and Grothe, Widders, Tahu to bust them open.

No need for Burt in my view.

Burt will be there in one way or another. I personally think this year he barely showed any form which would allow him to keep his first grade spot at other clubs. I hope Smithy wakes up and begins to make players work their way to keep their spot.

UTE,

your forgetting Cannings and even Tsoulos

i think they will probably get in over Stringer at least to start with, Cannings in particular i think will be one starting prop and probably Caylo the other (if not in the second row) and Robinson on the bench - its what he does best

i really think:

13. Wagon
12. Morrison
11. Hindmarsh
10. Cannings
9. Riddell
8. Cayless (c)

14. ????
15. Widders
16. Vella
17. Robinson

something like that, with maybe Henderson or even Tim Smith as a utility on the bench???? and perhaps Vella will start and Cannings brought back to the bench, but who knows, still way too early to tell

but i just hope BS goes on fitness and performance this tiem around, because we have a very talented squad and after the last few years there is no room for playing favourites???

   . Stringer is a great player and seeing as we paid so much to him he will be there if he isnt injured. Cannings and Tsulous I dont expect to crack FG until we have some player form slumps or injuries calls. IMO Robinson has come home as he has promised to either start or to given a heap more game time. I think he is as good as a player starting then he is off the bench. I agree as Iam sick of favourite being played. But last year the whole team bar Mckinnon and Hindmarsh could have been dropped at certain times of the year. You need a bit of stability and hope the players confidence rises. Just my two cents thats all.

Exactly right. And the overall mood and morale of thje team was severly low after losing 4 straight at home. Nothing would have helped us last year.

no offense UTE but your not prepared to give Burt and others half a chance sometimes and now you preech give them time and create stabilty in the team???

and i know how good Stringer is, i remember when he started int he game, but i just think his injuries are going to beat him at least early in the season.....

I don't think Burt was all that bad this year.
