I think on his day Burt can be great but he can be really bad. I dont like to much swapping and changing in the team if its proper from the start. This is why us winning a few games in the beginning rounds will enable us to gain a bit of confidence in the team. We know why the dogs won this year because they were stable. No injuries and barely any swapping and changing. Folkes gave players time to find their feet if they were struglling and it worked.

But in 2001 we we changed the side weekly, resting players for a week here and there.

Mark,

thats fine if the team is playing as a team and playing with confidence

you can afford to do such things.....but if you are trying to develop combinations and develop a team atmosphere chopping and changing from week to week is not going to help the situation....especially in the halves.....

One spot is for Widders, the other Marsh or Smith. Vella will take another spot and so will Robison or Afa

For the most part I'd say that would be true Avenger but there will be some games where someone like Fui will get on the bench even if Widders, Vella, Robinson, Jack etc are all fit.

but for the most part I'd say the bench will look like

14. Smith or Marsh
15. Widders
16 & 17 from Vella*, Cannings*, Afamasaga, Robinson* and Stringer*

*One of these in #10.

Bench should have:
14 - a player that can slip into hooker and/or halves
15 - prop/forward
16 - prop/forward
17 - skillful/forward that can also cover backline (like Widders)
18 - probably another forward - Brian always names one extra

Then you play four of these based on your opposition and your gameplan for them (ie leaning toward power or toward skill).

For example:
14. Tim Smith or Ian Henderson (assuming 7 Marsh, 6 Morris, 9 Riddell)
15. Vella or Cannings (assuming 8 Cayless 10 Stringer/Robinson)
16. Stringer/Robinson or Afamasaga
17. Widders or Mateo
18. From above or Tsoulos or even Moi Moi

I think there was only one player in the team the team not playing with confidance, Care to guess who that was.

Robinson is going to be a huge reason why this pack is going to be successful next season. His fitness is really going to show with the increased game time at parra. Give Robbo a starting spot week in week out and he will be averaging 30 tackles and a 100 metres a match, no doubt. With the limited game time he got at the Roosters his workrate resembled someone who had much more game time. I'd love to see what he can do with more time on the field. Robbo has the fitness to week in week out average high work rates.

Ill give it a go.

8 Cayless
9 Riddell
10 Robinson
11 Hindy
12 Morrison
13 Wagon

14 Utility
15 Widders
16 Stringer
17 Vella

First to come in after injuries: Cannings, Tsoulos, Cordoba etc etc.

A lot of ppl understimate Wagon. His a player who can fire and I dont want to see him out of the 13 jersey ever again.

Sorry UtE, but Pazza's pack is much better!

I don't think many people underestimate Wagon - we've seen what he can do for the last 5 years - the real problem is that a lot of people overestimate Wagon... and that's not so good!

No matter what he does in attack, Wags is still the most solid defender in our side apart from Hindy. I don't think it'd be wise to leave him out.

I rate Cayless, Morrison and Robinson as better defencive players than Wagon. I like Wagon, i'd just like to have him in the centres due to a lack of experiance and depth in that position. Plus the fact to the matter is that Wagon isn't a better back rower than Morrison and Cayless. The best players in their favoured positions i say.

UTE, i'd hate to see that pack come up against a fired up Dogs pack. I can see Rnd 1 2004 happening all over again.

Be realistic when you name your pack. ;-) . Brian Smith is our coach remember. I aint going to name anything which wont come true. You are dreaming if you think otherwise.
