Fair enough. For the record there's some quality in this years Ball team. Give it 2 or 3 years and they should be pushing NRL selection.

The SG fullback is apparantly a gun and is better than Snake was at the same age. He's just turned 18 and is seen as the long term replacement for Snake.

That confirms it. Snakes gone.

If he wasnt, Firechild would be ripping his feathers out at anyone suggesting Snake would be easily replaced!

You're an idiot Loudtwat. Snake won't easily be replaced and I'm certainly hoping this is all just talk to try to boost his contract. I haven't seen him play but by all reports Gutherson is a massive talent. Having said that, he's unlikely to be ready for the NRL for another couple of years which means his contract for Snake is massively important to ensure there isn't a big gap while we wait for Gutherson to be ready.

At 17 Gutherson had played rugby 7s in the junior Commonwealth games and he was being chased by 7 NRL clubs as well as the ARU and fumbleball so it's probably fair to suggest he has some talent. He captained Manly's SG ball side who only lost 1 regular season game (to the minor premiers in the final round). On top of that, he's another local junior, grew up in the same suburb as me.

Can't see this, under the new salary cap the Sea Eagles would be able to match 850k a year for Stewart.

The Salary cap will increase but only a select few (Benji, Thurston, Smith, GI, Slater etc) will earn $850k or more a year. If I was in charge of a club Brett Stewart and his knees would be lucky to get half that amount.

Yeah I know mate, I had an attempt at a joke lol.

I've heard the wraps on the young fullback.

Best outcome would be to hold onto Stewart for another 2 years (pending injuries).

The club is offering him 3 years, he wants 4. It would be fantastic to have him around when Gutherson gets his crack at first grade. It's always good to have a mentor that has played at the highest level.

If Cooper Vuna can play for the Wallabies, Snake could captain/coach them tomorrow.

Yeah but Cooper is a f**ken champ of a bloke.
He played a few games for Cessnock a few years back, when he was in and out of Knights first grade - he even backed up for Cessnock the day the Knights bombed out of the 2009 finals to play in the Newcastle Rugby League grand final for them.
And even after a referee induced flogging he hung around for the piss up.

From what I have heard, you may see Gutherson in 1st grade a lot sooner than people think, and is part of the reason Oldfield wasn't offered anything
