Gotta laugh at how that idiot Ritchie claims that it will "send shockwaves through the NRL".

Sure champ, just like Sailor, Tuqiri and Rogers moving to Union did a few years back. The NRL didn't miss a beat and Union in Australia is now a basket case.

You were f**king there Dean, did you not notice?

This ^^^^ :thumn

The Dragons have been rumoured to be chasing B.Stewert all year but at that sort of money I say no thanks. That is the sort of money I would save for a half-back.

Do the league journos trawl LU for stories?

Maybe you could get all wound up next week about how if Stewart walks about on Manly & Origin to play in England rah rah for a few years he would qualify to step up into the England rugby team & play the Wallabies at ANZ or Twickers.

Maybe that's too complex to follow though.

Our lower grades have been shit more often than not for as long as I can remember, yet the players keep coming through.

Don't get me wrong you will still have a good team but if Ballin & Stewart don't stay who is there to come in? You can sign some players that will be good depth but starters? I am sure Whare or Oldfield if they got told fullback's yours would stay. So they won't let him go.

Lol exactly. Those guys left in their prime as well isn't Stewart like 29 next year? Even if he leaves he's had his time.

Thats because they are coming through other sides' lower grades

Oldfield, Watmough, King, both Stewarts, DCE, Foran, Hopoate, Lussick, Maria-Hargraves, Mauro, Harrison and Buhrer say you're full of shit. Isn't it ironic that you say that yet the Roosters have bought Oldfield, Maria-Hargraves and Tasi from Manly who all played together in NYC?

We at Easts prefer to buy players who can't crack first grade at other clubs and then jump up and down when it turns out that they aren't first grade quality
I didn't know that Kearney worked at Easts as well.

I do love it when you throw your toys out of the pram whenever anyone even makes a joke about manly

I am a Roosters fan FFS, do you honestly think I would seriously mock anyone for not having juniors? FFS mate drop the serious act every now and then, its friday after all!

I'm sure once Parramatta dump him Easts will be falling over themselves to add him to our already overflowing pile of dud coaches in Smith, Elliott and Taylor.

The fact is if you stay in Australia and show loyalty to a club and its supporters then you will be remembered by them.

If you leave to go to some other country to play another code then you will simply be replaced.

:lol: Lussick, Buhrer. Stewart's all from different clubs in juniors. Hargraves from RU. Nothing wrong with recruiting them. Manly still developed them into internationals or quality players. The same will happen again to replace who's gone like the signing of Chee Kam from Canberra.

Considering the shit that Stewart has been through with the Australian media, I wouldn't begrudge him for leaving.

Lussick's a local. Buhrer, Hargraves and the Stewarts were recruited but they came through the Manly junior system (SG ball in the case of Buhrer and the Stewarts). The point that was made that I was responding to with those names was that Manly's players are coming through other junior systems and that is why Manly's juniors haven't won anything (besides a NYC MP) since the 80s. Clearly that's not the case as most of the current squad played NYC or below for Manly.

Fair enough. For the record there's some quality in this years Ball team. Give it 2 or 3 years and they should be pushing NRL selection.

This should be a thing, if not promoted, at least condoned.

Soon we will have a salary cap that no one else can poach from us. It is great to have the best playing here. perhaps make some longetivity incentives that promotes one club players.

But after 32, sheesh, you'd be hard pressed to earn a quid for most players.

If you get offered a $3.5 million pay day between ages 32 and 35, why not.

Every NRl player should aspire to retire in RU.

RU should aspire to be the NRL's retirement package.

Win-Win
