Newcastle were always going to win this game. Any other result, in the current circumstances, would be unthinkable to the NRL. In saying that, it appeared to me that our team played without skill and without pride. Some players seem to be only going through the motions, or playing for their pension cheque.
And are they really coached? It certainly does not appear that way. It also appears that players are not even acquainted with other team members. I'm becoming more and more of the opinion that we need a bloke like Gould or Bennett to clear out the dead wood and completely restructure the situation. Sure, we have blokes out.......but, even so, we are starting to look more and more like Dad's Army, or a place where has beens can ease into retirement.
It must surely be disheartening for the younger blokes. No wonder Benedict Fifita wanted out.

From my cheap seat at Newcastle Stadium I observed that we had a defensive system in operation to some degree and absolutely nothing resembling an organised attack. If it was it all hinges on one fella named Carney who is playing half busted.

During the drive back to Sydney my fellow long term Shark fan and I contemplated what changes could be made and what the return of Gallen, Lewis and Toups would add. Maybe a bit of go forward in our forwards?

What would the return of Robbo would bring ? Maybe a bit of added starch in defence and a second kicker who can create some attacking options ? or at least make the opposition have to think ?

And to affirm what Popper said about Newcastle always winning due to the circumstances, well, we'd been awarded one penalty up to about the 65th minute.

At the moment unity are getting everything they want memberships are down crowds are down no sponsors and we can't win a game and they seem to me not doing anything about it. The NRL are going to relocate us they know it and they are going to walk out of here with a couple of million dollars each.
